Mt. Whitney trail in the Inyo National Forest, CA

Chara and Tony present hiking the Mt. Whitney trail in the Inyo National Forest, CA!  Mt. Whitney, at 14,505ft, is the highest summit in the continental United States.  The trail is permit only, open from May 1st - Nov. 1st, is 22 miles out and back, has an elevation gain over 6,000ft, and is as gorgeous as it is tough. Chara started hiking it with her Dad in 2009 and has summitted twice. Tony hiked it last fall for the first time.  The presentation will also touch on training hikes in Arizona, useful information (where to camp, getting a permit, closest towns), bouldering in Bishop, and limited information about the mountaineering route and the John Muir trail.  We look forward to sharing our adventure!
