Arizona Mystery Writers, a nonprofit, has been meeting monthly for many years. About 25 people come to each meeting, at Old Pueblo Grille, 60 N Alvernon (at Broadway), on the second Saturday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We hear fascinating speakers and learn about the craft of writing mystery. $20 includes lunch. Pay at the door. Please RSVP by 9:30 am, Wednesday before the meeting to have a lunch ready for you. Speakers are detectives, PI's, forensic experts, FBI agents, and experienced writers. If you're a writer, a wannabe, or haven't got a clue, join us!
The meetings are open to everyone, members or not. Non-members pay $20 for the meeting, which includes lunch. Members pay only $16. It's also possible for anyone to pay $10 for just the morning or just the afternoon session, no lunch.
You can join at any time. If you wanted to become a member at the next meeting, you would pay $25, then another $16 for the meeting and lunch, for a total of $41. After that, for a year, you would pay only $16 for each lunch meeting.
If you came to a year's worth of meetings as a member, you'd save $44, easily recovering the cost of your membership. (We have 11 meetings a year).
Other benefits of membership include:
Being able to post your bio and any publications on the AMW Web site (www.arizonamysterywriters.com)
Being able to post messages about your writing career on the AMW Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ArizonaMysteryWriters), such as book signings, book events, awards, contests, etc.
Being able to sell books at the AMW booth during the annual Tucson Festival of Books.
Participation in occasional AMW events such as tours of prisons, forensic labs, and so on.
