WordPress Multi-Site -- who it's for, what it makes easy, installation, domain mapping, use, administration, backup, bringing WordPress single sites into a multi-site system. I can present.

Hi George, can you go to http://arizonawp.org/... and submit this form. That way it will get onto our list for future meetup topics. Thanks so much!

I was inspired to finally launch my newest plugin. I would like to ask as many of you as possible to give it a try, and rate/review it online -

Because so many of you asked about it, here is my VERY informal review of website hosting companies:

    February 20, 2014

    • julokeefe

@Brian - where did you see the schedule?

      February 21, 2014

    • julokeefe

@Brain - I found it, so glad you had mentioned this PV group in an earlier post, it's way closer for me to get to.

For those of you looking for a "portfolio" custom post type plugin, this is the best I've ever found and recommend it over trying to create your own:

Meetup was great, lots of people... full room as you can see from the pictures I took and posted on meetup. Awesome to see so many familiar faces. Since I didn't get through the "views" part of my presentation I may supplement a screen-cast of my own and post it for you here. Stay tuned in the next week for links.

A topic I would like to see in the future would be setting up a development site for testing changes to a live site.
    Then pushing the changes live.
    Preferably on a sub domain.

We got it. Thx so much Mark.

  • Mike C.

    Is this being broadcast online?

    February 20, 2014

    • Seth C.

We usually try, yes. I'll post a link around 6:00 and the meeting will start around 6:30. Note that sometimes we have technical issues, so I wouldn't rely on it. Attending in person is the only sure way to get this information.

      2 · February 20, 2014

    • Mark R.

And, attending in person is the only way to get that adrenaline rush from rubbing elbows with real live Wordpress developers and power users, and knowing that at the end of the night, your geek cred just inched up a few notches.

inspired to write my own recommended #wordpress #plugins after reading a poorly vetted "best plugins" article http://sethmatics.com/2014/02/best-wordpress-plugins-2013/

When I switched over to WP, everyone told me it could 'Do everything'. WP HAS proven to be very customizable! But there are some things I want to do that I'm almost SURE can be done, I just don't know how! Working with Feature Images is one of them.

    January 18, 2014

    • Seth C.

To me it sounds like your "WordPress Designer" didn't do a good job in setting up your theme. Thumbnails automatically size themselves, and crop themselves to properly fit into "featured images" areas. Not sure why your theme doesn't use this feature of WordPress.

      February 13, 2014

    • Mark R.

In Woocommece I needed to install the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to make it cooperate after changing the thumbnail size in the cart settings area.

When switching from a current theme to a new theme that both utilize a custom post type (portfolio), can I easily transfer these posts to the new theme or do I need to add them manually? Can this be covered in one of the presentations? Thanks!

    February 13, 2014

    • Seth C.

      1. Answering your question...no your portfolio CPT between two themes will most likely not be compatable (because they will likely name there custom fields differently).

      February 13, 2014

    • Seth C.

      2. Yes, we can definitely cover using the TYPES plugin and moving between themes.
