    BLANK POSTS?
I use the theme wpFlexishop2 for my site. The developers split and don't updates anymore.

I've been continually updating wordpress and now I think the latest version 3.9.1 may have stopped the posts from working. When I click the 'blog' link on the site that's fine. It shows the post excerpt.

But when I click a post, any post, the page is blank.

Can someone tell me how to fix this issue?

look for a theme file called single.php and make sure "the_content()" is in it somewhere

Sheri, I notice your site is still down. Specifically, 500 Server Errors, very likely a bug in a theme or plugin file. 1) I can help you fix it, by you turning on some heavy-duty troubleshooting info. Read www.glerner.com/wordpress-debugging-only-you.php or 2) I can find the specific file that needs to be updated, and the error causing the problem, contact me via that same page.

And the other q is random: a colleague asked me if I knew anyone who could help with a Joomla upgrade. I said I'd ask around. Any takers?

      Hi Kerry,
We are planning to add staging sites within the next month. In the interim, if you get a Business or Pro plan you will be allocated additional sites that can all be used like staging sites for development and client demo. Each site also gets its own unique temporary domain so you shouldn't even have to deal with setting up subdomains and can just use the temporary domain the same way.
      Hope that helps!

There was a gal copywriter at this meetup, I think looking for a job? I came across this position at Martz-Parsons: https://www.linkedin.com/vsearch/j?page_num=1&locationType=Y&f_C=31000&trk=careers_promo_module_see_jobs

2 questions I forgot to ask on Thursday night: for next month, i would like to have a presentation on comment management and spam prevention, covering perhaps disqus and akismet, and/or other tools and techniques. Any suggestions or volunteers to talk on this subject?

Another great meeting! Betsy and others put a lot of work into doing these sessions. It's very much appreciated!

While I appreciate the goal of the "social share" questionnaire, I was not enthusiastic. One basic rule to formulate such questions is to allow for all possible answers. I am rarely asked to add "social share" buttons. I have one client only that uses social, and that's facebook.

Am I out of the loop on this? Maybe. I look for how much effort the client will give to make social effective. If the answer is near zero, I don't push it on them because I don't want to do that type of work for them either.

All I'm saying is Social Media (from the whole horizon of it , down to just a small slice of it) is not for every business website or for every business owner!

      April 17, 2014

    • Clair

I've been skeptic how effective social share buttons are, but recently read a few articles that they're so successful, it's almost a requirement to have these days, especially if you're blogging.

As in all things SEO, it's a race.
If we both have clients in the same niche,
and I'm using Social media strategies,
and you are not, my site may outrank you.

But the biggest advantage of social is that
you can get traffic to the website from social media search.

This article may shed some light.

Won't be there, I'll be visiting out of town. I'll be back for the next one.

Here's something I just wrote, for security -
http://computerhelp.lernerconsulting.info/2014-adding-a-second-login-to-wordpress/ having a server password before the WordPress password makes much harder to break in.

This is excellent: Dre Armeda, at WordCamp Phoenix 2013

and the WordCamp Phoenix 2013 slides http://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/view?login=armeda&preview=no&slideid=1&title=wordpress-security-wordcamp-phoenix-2013

    Also, for developers -
Brad Williams: Writing Secure WordPress Code - http://wordpress.tv/2014/03/04/brad-williams-writing-secure-wordpress-code-2/ from WordCamp Phoenix 2014 (and Presentation Slides - http://www.slideshare.net/williamsba/writing-secure-wordpress-code )
