Ummmmm....... I just started out, am I going to stick out like a sore thumb? Are Newbie's allowed to come to this meeting of the minds?

As Carol says, your welcome to join us. If you want to come try to absorb developer speak, the presentations will not be "over your head" but the discussions likely will be.

Gotcha, thanks for the advice. I will defiantly have to check out next months meetings.. A family friend at Automattic referred me to you guys and I thought I would check you out. I will do my homework and maybe be able to jump in sometime down the road. Good luck all and keep the dream alive............ :-)

Probably too big of a topic for the June meeting, but at some future Developer Meetup I'd like to see a discussion on integrating WP with a Forum - pros/cons of bbPress vs phpBB, stand-alone installs vs. integrated (I've had nothing but trouble with bbPress ver 2's integration into wp_posts)… would be helpful to learn how others are handling client requests to add forums to their WP-based websites.

I agree, if its going to be a massive forum, I would seperate it from WordPress, spend the extra money to "design them to match the branding design" and use http://www.vbulletin...., hands down the best there is. Problem with the setup, seperate users for each system. Only way to tackle both is using one DB, in WordPress with phpBB.

Good tip on vbulletin - thanks! I'll check that out.

Having separate user databases is actually preferable in this particular use case….on the site we only want admins and approved authors to have user logins (no subscribers), and managing those users got out of control with having Forum users mixed in.

I modified the meeting a little bit, but my slides are ready early!! (http://goo.gl/2IZ298)
Amazing. Hopefully that means I'll have time to prep the demo and test it before the meeting... I hope.

I'm bummed to miss it, but summer means out of town weddings. Looking forward to catching all the fun on YouTube!

I won't be able to make the meeting since I'll be at a launch event for a non-profit client, but I'd love to see some more pictures on arizonawp.org to show that real human beings attend the events!
