Just want to give everybody a few quick updates! I previously mentioned I might set up a quick P2 install for conversations about group goals and ideas, but realized the meetup message board might be all we need. We'll give the board a shot and if it doesn't get the job done, we'll revisit a separate WP install for group convo.
I was going to schedule a meetup for Sunday, June 27th at 1:00 PM but since I'm new again to the Valley, I need to scout out a few spots that look good on paper, to make sure they would work. Better yet, let me know where you think a great spot with wifi is that will accommodate 5 to 15 people and maybe that will get our meeting scheduled more quickly. Items on the docket: WP Security, the Pharma Hack, (insert your idea here) and world peace.
Also, my goal here to facilitate. That means there's nothing stopping anyone from scheduling their own meetups or having their dirty way with the group. The more voices, the better. Beginners:
You're in luck, WordPress has one of biggest user bases of any CMS today and that means there are probably about a million and one tutorials and videos about specific questions you might have available via Google. In fact, most WP users I know are self taught because there is only so much that can be learned in WP without actually getting into the dashboard and using it.
Here's a great starting spot: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Lessons
. You may also want to take a glance at WPTavern.com, weblogtoolscollection.com or you can ask questions in the WordPress forums at http://wordpress.org/support/
Chuck also previously mentioned that the following peeps may be a good resource for you as well: http://phxwptraining.com
.... Finally: Word to mother? No. Phoenix WordCamp!
Chuck is almost done prepping for an official announcement regarding Phoenix WordCamp. In the meantime, it's super important that you 1) check out http://phxwordcamp.com/
for regular updates and 2) FAN UP the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/PhxWordCamp
This message should post to the message board, so feel free to leave any comments and or feedback and Hiya to our newest members!
