Thanks to all who came out for the "Un-meetup" last night at Gangplank. Unfortunately we had some issues with the live stream and we do apologize for this. The majority of the meet-up was conducted in small groups and we were unable to stream this portion, so we are glad that our difficulties happened on a day when we had less content streaming.
Group Explosion It appears our WordPress community here in AZ continues to grow. As of the writing of this email, we are now up to 536 members. Because of this, we have been discussing ways in which we can expand this Meetup to meet the growing need. Because of this, we asked you to answer a brief survey about you and your needs. I want to thank all of those who completed the survey. This was very helpful in giving us ideas for the future direction and potential topics for the group. The organizers of the Meetup group gathered late last night following the meeting to create a plan of action. I want to give a special thanks to these organizers who gave up their evening and even made a late night of it.
Geographic Expansion We have decided that it is important to expand the Meetup group in two different ways: geography and skill level. First of all, we realize that there are many WordPress users all over the state and one or two geographic locations does not meet the need of many of our members. As a result, we want to encourage the establishment of groups around the state. The creation of new sites is dependent upon volunteers stepping up at those different locations and organizing a new site. Currently we have the Chandler and Tucson Meetup in operation. We have volunteers standing by and ready to begin a new site at Gangplank Avondale and then a "yet to be determined" site in North Phoenix (Desert Ridge Area). Please watch the calendar for these group meetings. If you would like to see a site in a new area AND are willing to take the lead in organizing this site, please send me an email and we can get you included as an event organizer for the group.
Skill Level and Special Topics Expansion The second way in which we would like to expand the group is with regard to skill level. We find that many of our members are newer to WordPress and appreciate beginning level topics at the meeting. We also have a group of highly skilled members who want to continue to expand their knowledge. Because of this, we feel it is necessary to encourage the creation of additional "advanced topic" Meetups to accommodate this need. If you would like to create either an ongoing Meetup or even a one-time topic discussion, please let me know and we can schedule such a meeting. Again, this is contingent upon volunteers willing to step up and take the lead in these new initiatives.
Meetup Agenda Change To add another way in which we can meet the needs of all of our members, we are going to make some changes to the Meetup Agenda. The "Un-meetup" seemed to be a success so we will offer this format again in the future. We are also going to have some sessions available in which the advanced level users break out into a "Work Group" while the beginning users receive beginning level topics. We are hopeful that adding these new meeting styles to the current meetup will also help address the needs of members with different skill levels.
Assistant Organizers With the growth and expansion of the group, we have added some new Assistant Organizers to assist with the increased workload. Please join me in thanking all of our assistant organizers for helping us move the group forward: Chris Diamond, Chuck Reynolds, Dharma Kelleher, Kyle Thiesen, Lisa Faiss, Lori Pasulka, Seth Carstens and Tim Bowen.

Thank you all for being a part of the group. See you next time. Carol
