WordCamp 2012 planning is underway. We are close to securing a date in late February of 2012. The WordCamp steering committee just met and we have some specific needs to help round out our organizing committee. Please email myself or Dallin (email@example.com) and let us know if you can help out in one of these areas.
- Ticketing/Registration -- Manages all aspects of ticketing. Responds to all questions from attendees, decides on refunds, etc. Runs registration and help desk during event. Scrubs the attendee list for the badge run. Time estimate: 70 hours before camp + 4 hours on Saturday
- Genius Bar -- solicits geniuses in conjunction w the speaker lead, manages the genius bar the day of the event as an expediter. Time estimate: 10 hours before the event (set up) + all day Saturday. Manages a small crew.
- Parties -- thurs night @ san tan. fri night social/reception. sat night after party (huge). sunday night speakers/organizer's dinner. Time estimate: 5 hours (san tan) + 10 hours (social) + 20 hours (after party) all done well in advance of the event. May need a few people to share responsibility.
Documentation - the entire event should be documented. have somoene primarily responsible for getting photos of every speaker, every stunt, every event, every sponsor in action, etc. sponsors appreciate getting that back. they handle interviewing speakers, attendees, etc. Probably need a couple of people to split up as necessary. Time estimate: 5 hours before the event + all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Food & Beverage --Drink/Food coordination on Friday. Breakfast, Lunch and Drinks/Snacks on Saturday. Speaker's dinner on Sunday night. Time estimate: 10 hours before the event (planning), a few hours on Friday, all day Saturday, 8 total hours planning/throwing the Sunday night dinner.
The intent of the committee is not that one person will do all of the work, but rather one person will coordinate their own team to do what is necessary to take care of their piece.
