How long have you been writing?

Many years.

You must be at work on a novel, or short story collection to join this group: Have you written a novel length work you'd like critiqued?

Yes, I am working on the third draft of an historical novel set in England in the 1100's. Swords and castles and adventure. It begins in Jerusalem during the first crusade then moves to England.

Have you ever critiqued another writer's work or had yours critiqued? Did you learn anything from it?

I love critiquing other writers...I learn so much in the process about my own writing. As interesting and eye-opening as it is to have my own writing critiqued, I believe I learn the most from critiquing others. Seeing how other writers do things, good and bad, informs my own writing.

What genre(s) do you write? Have you checked the pages tab to see what genres this group reads and critiques? Is yours a genre we read?

Historical, mainstream literary, adventure, horror, humor - though I will read almost anything well written.

What is your writing schedule?

I write everyday, usually in the early morning, but sometimes I do more if my workday permits.

I love literary fiction, historicals, mainstream, mystery, humor, horror - any novel that is well written. I think to be a great writer you must be a great reader. Any genre can be a great read if the author is an amazing writer.

What Cynthia R. is saying about this Meetup Group

This workshop is exceptional, in my experience. Great imaginations and skill combined make this truly one of the best workshops I have ever attended. And it's FREE. You usually don't find this level of participation and assistance outside a university setting. For those wishing to transition from wanting to be a writer, to actually BEING one, this is the place.
