From central Phoenix, take Loop 202 east to Arizona 87 (Beeline Highway) and go north to Payson. From there, continue another 47 miles north, past Clints Well. Turn right (east) on Forest Road 751 and continue southeast about 6 miles to the reservoir. After turning on FR 751 Look for a white sign that read "AOAG EVENT PARKING --->"
This is the sign you will be looking for off the 87
Then look for a white sign that reads
AOAG EVENT PARKING--->
Maybe this map will help
Our Thanksgiving in the summertime last year was such a great event that I thought we should try Christmas in Aug. We will be having a Christmas pot-luck on Sat evening. We will also be doing the gift exchange. So bring something outdoor related for this exchange. We will be reading Twas the night before Christmas Poem like we did at the Christmas Party in years past and doing the Right Left game.
This narrow, winding body of water looks more like a canyon-bound river than a lake. Nestled between forested canyon walls it provides picturesque water recreation in a secluded, wooded setting.
The Arizona Fish and Game department plants rainbow trout annually and some browns also are present in the lake. There’s plenty of sightseeing, wildlife watching, hiking and mountain biking available here in these canyon-carved uplands. If just talking about all this activity makes you want to kick back and relax with nothing more strenuous to do than watch the squirrels bury pine seeds, then this forested area is probably just the place for you.
So grab some firewood and your toys and come on up out of the heat for a 4 day weekend of fun and relaxation.*** Also it may rain so come prepared****
We will be up there from Fri morning to Monday afternoon. You will need to bring lots of water and a potty. (_) as we will not be in the campground. The space for this trip will be limited so get on the list early
You will not want to miss this trip. It is something to see. Amazing water and even better views. Pictures cannot do it justice!
