I grew up in SE Missouri. Although my state remained with the union, my mother's family initially fought for the Confederacy, after Gettysburg, they switched. Thus, I'm more sympathetic (slightly) to the North.
Three way tie between Grant, Sheridan and Sherman. If I had to choose, it would be Sherman for his "total war" strategy.
Ah, there are so many good ones - I'm currently reading two on the Civil War - Grant's Memoirs and John Wilkes Booths' Escape Route. I'm fully open to more options though!
Hello, I recently relocated to the D.C. area for my job. However, I am a Civil War aficionado and I am looking for a group of individuals with similar interests. My dad and I frequently take Civil War trips (Overland Campaign, NC campaigns, etc).
