I finally published my first book in 2010, after squandering a couple of decades as a grassroots organizer. One cannot redo the past -- at least not until I perfect my time machine. But when I do, I am SO going to start writing books a couple of decades earlier.
So I’m plugging away now on my second book. And this one’s not about the relatively new challenge of abolishing nuclear weapons, but about the primal challenge of abolishing war itself. It is now my ambition to write a clear and comprehensible popular book, aimed at engaging a broad general audience, which will reintroduce into the contemporary policy debate the ancient idea, dating back at least to Dante, arguably to Augustine of Hippo, and in a vaguer sense even to Socrates, that something like a Federal Republic of the World, some distant day, could bring about both a world without armies and a world without war. Gonna be tough to find a worthy topic for a third book after that!
Hi creative souls. Tad Daley here. I'm the Director of The Project on Abolishing War at The Center for War/Peace Studies. And I'm the author of the book APOCALYPSE NEVER: Forging The Path To A Nuclear Weapon-Free World.
