Thanks for this Tiffany. I am right there where you suggest - trying to decide whether to self-publish my manuscript, which is complete but not yet professionally edited. My agent has been trying to sell the book for over a year. We have had some good bites, but no contract yet. I am at the point where I want this DONE yesterday. I may seriously consider some of the options you suggest. But I think I have heard some less than favorable things about Author House. How can we tell which form of self-publishing is best? Any ideas?

Self-publishing was once looked down upon, but thankfully, that attitude is slowly changing. I have several friends who are taking this route and have been very happy with the results. I'm glad you are considering having it professionally edited because that can really make a difference in the quality of the work. Good luck!

I've scheduled for a successfully self-published author to come speak to the group (event link: http://www.meetup.com...)

I plan to update this forum with questions answered lessons learned from the dinner... stay tuned!
