February Book Club Meeting

Hello Book lovers,

We selected our books for the February 2013 meeting.

"HHhH" written by Laurent Binet
"Wolf Hall" written by Hilary Mantell

If you have time you can read both books, otherwise you can select the book you are most interested in.

The Around Fitzroy & Collingwood Book Club is very informal; there is no set meeting agenda. Over a coffee, beer or wine, we usually have a chat about what everyone thought of the books of the month and see if anyone has read anything else exciting or heard of any great literary events on in Melbourne.

"HHhH" written by Laurent Binet
HHhH is the debut novel of French author Laurent Binet. It recounts Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during World War II. It was awarded the 2010 Prix Goncourt du Premier Roman.

"Wolf Hall" written by Hilary Mantell
Wolf Hall is a multi-award winning historical novel by English author Hilary Mantel, published by Fourth Estate, named after the Seymour family seat of Wolfhall or Wulfhall in Wiltshire. Set in the period from 1500 to 1535, Wolf Hall is a fictionalized biography documenting the rapid rise to power of Thomas Cromwell in the court of Henry VIII of England, through the death of Sir Thomas More. The novel won both the Man Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2012, The Observer named it as one of "The 10 best historical novels"

The book is the first in a planned trilogy; the sequel Bring Up the Bodies was published in 2012.

Hi I just wanted to share if you haven't already check out "TREACHEROUS THE BEGINNING"
[masked] A Louisiana family gets involved with the Russian Mafia and a corrupted government. The family finds a damaged young orphan near their home and takes her in as one of their own in this visceral novel. Little does the family know that the secret the girl possesses is so devastating it has the power to decimate every last one of them. Riddled with twists and turns, Treacherous the Beginning will have readers guessing until the very end: What’s the secret? Will they survive its devastating effect? What does it mean to those who so lovingly took the child in as one of their own?
Curses, voodoo and other forms of mayhem come from deep within the bayou to flavor this spicy tale of intrigue and betrayal. contact me at [masked]
