This may be the most fun you’ve ever had learning a language. The idea is to create a fun, social environment while you’re learning to speak Spanish at the same time. Each lesson will focus on specific grammar topics and expressions that will be explained and then we’ll move on to using them while we interact with various activities like dialogues, games, charades, songs, etc. The evening is designed to get you speaking at the first lesson. This will be a beginner level group, and it’s the right level for you if you don’t speak any Spanish yet, or if you already have some of the basics and you feel you need to practice and learn a bit more. With languages, if you don’t use it, you lose it!
This is part of a series of weekly lessons on Monday evenings. If you can join us every week, that would be great, but if you can only come to one of the lessons that would be great as well. Since the lessons are designed in a way that grammar topics/expressions are explained at the beginning of each evening, you will have a foundation for what we’re going to work on that evening (even if you have never spoken Spanish before).
Food and Drink
Wine and a variety of teas will be provided, along with appetizers and/or desserts.
$25 per person each lesson, which is a great deal for this type of lesson with a professional teacher. This goes to pay the teacher, cover materials for the lesson, and pay for the food and drink for the evening.
It would be a good idea to bring a notebook to take some notes, but aside from that, you don’t need to bring anything. The teacher will provide handouts, and I will be providing the food and drink. So just bring yourself and be prepared to have a fun evening!
About the Teacher
Florencia Derron is a professional Spanish teacher. She was born and raised in Argentina. In Argentina, she owned a tutoring business where she taught English to children and adults. She later moved to New York, where she continued teaching English as well as Spanish. Over the past 13 years she has taught over a thousand students. I was excited to find Florencia to be our teacher. When I explained the type of lesson I had in mind, she said this is already the way she normally teaches. Great minds think alike!
Street parking is available. Do not cancel the day of the event. If you are signed up the morning of the event, you are expected to show up. If you cancel the day of the event, that will count as a No-Show, and you will still be expected to pay for the event.
