Argentine Tango is an intimate, sensuous, seductive, beautiful dance. Meaning is reflected in the lyrics of Tango, making the music a reflection of life itself. Universal human emotions including themes of love, fear, politics, loss, sex, beauty, danger, yearning, intimidation, showmanship, laughter, and even violence all present themselves musically and poetically in Tango. Something exciting happens when all of these elements are brought together. This gives Tango its life, its seduction, intoxication and exhilaration.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned Tanguero, come join us for an evening of Argentine Tango at the historic Turnverein! No partner needed since they will have everyone switching partners during the class. There are two class levels, one for complete beginners (Foundations I) and another for beginners who have had a few lessons already (Foundations II). A practice session (a practica) for open dancing, continues after the lesson until 10:30pm and this is included in the price of class.
Everyone should wear shoes with NON-rubber soles. Rubber will stick to the floor so you can’t dance, and will also leave marks on the ballroom floor (a big no-no). Women should wear shoes with a closed heel, and a little height from the heel will help with correct Tango posture.
Please be there before 6:15 to check in. After you check in at the front, come into the ballroom, and we’ll meet on the right side of the room.
I’ve arranged a group discount. When you check in at the door, give my name and let them know you’re with my group. You’ll get the entire evening of fun and exercise for only $5!
