TWO THOUSAND volunteers are needed at Mission Arlington from 8 AM through NOON and possibly beyond. Turkeys, turkey baskets, and hot meals need to be delivered to waiting families. Volunteer as long or as short as fits your schedule. Thanksgiving happens rain or shine! If you want to volunteer with a group, sign up through Around Arlington.
Meet us at McDonald's (611 W Abrams St @Cooper 76010) Thanksgiving day from 8-830A for some breakfast. Afterwards, we can probably park at the church at Center/Center and walk 1.5 blocks West to Mission Arlington. We won't end up staying together as whole group - we'll get different delivery assignments, so
you may want to volunteer with family/friends and deliver together. Clean out your trunk because eventually we'll pull our cars up closer, pick up our maps and assigned deliveries, and head out to make deliveries. Their website doesn't list a policy regarding child volunteers for this event, so I'd say bring them! Most places prefer 12 and up. I have taken Girl Scouts as young as 4th grade to deliver Thanksgiving dinners in the past. They hosted a food drive, sorted the donations, decorated copy paper boxes, boxed up the meals, and delivered the dinners. You know if your kids are up for this kind of activity! Mission Arlington's main office is at 210 W. South Street.
