Tuesday Night Picnic @Mike Lewis Park (GP)

  • Mike Lewis Park

2434 N Carrier Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX (map)

    32.780844 -97.028674

  • Use the entrance from Carrier Parkway (aka Green Oaks Blvd)!
  • 5/21 @6:30A UPDATE: With an 80% change of Strong Thunderstorms and 65% humidity projected for 6 pm this evening, it's just not gonna be picnic weather tonight. Cancelling early in the day so you can make other dinner plans.

Hopefully this fabulous Spring Weather will cooperate and we can head outdoors for a Spring Picnic! Grab your own dinner and join us on the PATIO by the FISHING POND at Mike Lewis Park.

    FIND THE PARK
From Hwy 360, take the Green Oaks/Carrier exit and go East. From 183 take the Valley View/Roy Orr exit and head to Carrier Pkwy, then turn left/South onto Carrier. Park entrance will be on your left. It's also very close to I30 and Hwy 161. Check out the park info HERE.

    FIND US BY THE POND
Enter from the Carrier Parkway entrance by the Mike Lewis Park sign. Follow the driveway around and after the divided median, turn left. Drive past the baseball fields on your right and restrooms on your left. Road becomes one-way as you circle around the pond and pavilion. We're planning to eat on the patio that's overlooking the pond. There is no fee to enter or park at Mike Lewis Park.

    FAMILY FRIENDLY
This is a family-friendly event, grab the kids and come join us! Kids can play on the nearby playground. Dogs on leashes welcome too. Restrooms are within walking distance.

    BRING
Bring your own food and drink. Extra chairs come in handy too. NO BBQ grill and NO GLASS ALLOWED - use plastic please! Also feel free to bring a volleyball,
    Frisbees, games, cards, etc.

    FOOD NEARBY
If you're gonna grab some food on your way, there are a few fast food choices near Hwy 360/Carrier intersection.

    WEATHER
Well it’s Texas and who knows – we might have a snowstorm or some crazy rain. Or we might be frying eggs on the sidewalk. Event is outdoors and therefore weather-dependent. We’ll email ya last minute if plans change.

Weather forecast isn't looking so cooperative. Will update after lunch on Tuesday if we need to cancel due to thunderstorms!

What kind of response did you get from this event before it was cancelled? I want to have one at the park near me.

I probably can't make it but I've been to Mike Lewis many many times, shot literally thousands of pictures there...it's my favorite local park. FYI, since many of you are probably coming from Arlington: if you head a little farther north of the park on Roy Orr Blvd there's a gas station on your right. So if you forget something etc. you "might could" pick it up it there.
