The Nerd: $5 Preview Night @Theatre Arlington

Where else can you see live theater for five bucks? Join us for the dress rehearsal tonight! Be sure to check in with the event host before the play or at intermission!

PREVIEW NIGHTS
Thursday evening prior to the Opening Friday of some shows, patrons may watch the dress rehearsal of the show for $5 on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are only sold at the door, and they do sometimes sell out, so arrive early or send a friend.

Box office opens at 6:30. Seating usually about 7, play starts at 7:30. They don't let folks in after the play starts. We won't all be seated together, so come early to meet folks and make new friends to sit with.

ABOUT THIS PLAY
Now an aspiring young architect, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you,” so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his 34th birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd,” a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence, a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play.

The secret is OUT about this awesome deal. WOW this place was PACKED and sold out by 7 pm. I know at least four members left before that and four more couldn't get tickets. Bummed about that. Heard it was a good play - didn't get to see it myself. Not sure if we'll continue to host this in the future due to it's popularity (selling out).

Why didn't you stay, Dawn?? If it was because it was sold out & you gave your spot to someone else, you are truly amazing!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
