3rd Annual - Arlington's Best Chili Cookoff

  • November 17, 2012 · 4:00 PM
  • Jeff & Lauren's

It's time once again for the annual chili cookoff!  Two years ago, this event had 36 people in attendance and 44 last year!  So we have decided to do it again.

PHOTOS
Be sure to check out the pictures from the previous years' events to get an idea of what to expect:

2010- http://www.meetup.com/AroundArlington/photo...

2011- http://www.meetup.com/AroundArlington/photos/4559972/

We each have a favorite chili recipe, so dust off your crockpot, make your best recipe and bring it over to see how it measures up against others.

We are hosting this chili cookoff at our home in S. Arlington (near Matlock and Turner Warnell). Come join the fun!  You will love it!  Everyone gets to taste!

WHO'S COOKING
If you're cooking chili, please be sure to make a note of that in your RSVP so we will know how many contestants are participating.

OTHER FOOD/DRINKS
If you would like to join us but prefer not to make chili, please bring a drink or something else to share. Fritos, crackers, cheese, onions, cornbread, drinks, or dessert would be a great idea for something like this. Please post in your RSVP what you plan to bring so we don't have too much of any one thing.  Tasting cups, plastic ware and napkins are also welcome. Of course, it is always BYOB.

PRIZES
Prizes work the same as last year which are a $10 entry fee for anyone who wants to compete.  If you would like to bring chili but not participate in the cookoff, please feel free to bring a pot.  You won't be able to win the contest, but it will still be fun trying your best batch!

Breakdown of prizes works as follows:

50% of money collected goes to 1st Place

30% of money collected goes to 2nd Place

20% of money collected goes to 3rd Place

Contestants will be judged solely on BEST FLAVOR!

After all the prizes are given out and the contest is over, we will all get to enjoy a bowl of our favorite chili!  Bring games or anything and we can turn this into a game night.  We have a pool table and darts.

ADDRESS
Address will be emailed to YES RSVP's one day before the cookoff!

Looks like Tracy, Dave, Anita, Damaron, Terry, Paul, Suzanne, Brian and Deanna competing so far! Mmmm

    November 11, 2012

    • Paul W.

Dawn, I'm not competing. This is my first time making chili so I very much doubt I have any chance of winning. I do have a large crockpot and have it full of my custom ingredients. I'm going to let it slow cook over-night.

      November 16, 2012

    • Jeff & L.

Add Shane to that list. He's confirmed on Facebook.

      November 16, 2012

  • Brian

How much chili should we prepare if 50-75 people are going to be here?

    November 16, 2012

    • Dawn

However much fits in your crockpot is just perfect. We're TASTING the 10-15 different kinds of chili.

      2 · November 16, 2012

  • Juan Vasquez J.

This will be our first time there whats something we can bring?

    November 16, 2012

    • Dawn

Juan - there's always plenty of snacking before the chili competition starts - any kind of snack food would be great: chips, veggies, dips, salsa, etc.

      November 16, 2012

  • Jeff & L.

If everyone can please update your RSVP as soon as you know what you're bringing, it will help others decide. We have a lot of rsvps and we aren't sure what most folks are bringing. We could probably use more chili if anyone else is interested. Thanks!
