    Hello ArtPeople,
Thank you for joining our Art Meeting / Private View today. I hope you have enjoyed the presented art and that you could meet with many art minded people.
I saw that a few people somehow did not find what they expected. This maybe because not special activities had been planned.
I thought that the language of the art and the presence of plenty of artists and art lovers should be enough base to enjoy the meeting. * Maybe for a next time I will include some lecture or round table discussion....
Anyway I think that the meeting in general was very successful
with more than 100 visitors from all nationalities and outstanding artworks in a privileged location.

Many thanks for coming and hope to count with you for another event in the future.
    Greetings !

    Karel

Honestly, I thought the meet up was a disappointment. There seemed to be little clarity of what was to be expected given in advance. At the event itself, there was no way to determine who might be another Meetup attendee or not. The are, at least in my opinion was mediocre, and that is being critically generous. Luckily, I live in the Midtown East area so it was not a great effort to attend. But I feel sorry for others from farther afield who had to make a big effort for something so blah. I hope that future events could have a little more dynamism--and clearer information in advance. There is potential here but it was not realized tonight. But that is just my opinion.

This is the worst meetup I have been to. There was no identification of the meetup attendees, no identification of the organizers, just various people wandering around at random. the organizer had pieces in the exhibition, and this just seemed like an opportunity for him to get more people to see it. Almost no one I spoke to was from the meetup. After traveling 2 1/2 hours to attend, I was sorely disappointed.

      Open Call
      Staten Island Arts

We are pleased to announce an open call for submissions and consideration in I-Land, opening December 14, 2013, 5pm – midnight.
In I-Land, artists, musicians and performers are invited to show the world a self portrait that reflects on their relationship to Staten Island. This exhibition will explore intimate and personal ways that creative individuals see, experience, live in, and dream about Staten Island. From deep psychological portraits, to dystopian visions of the future, to reflections from a quiet retreat in the borough’s green spaces, this exhibition hopes to trace myriad & diverse individual expressions of I-Land.

This exhibition will be curated by Melanie Cohn, Executive Director, Staten Island Arts. The program is organized by Staten Island Arts with the generous help of SIABC,
73 Wave Street, home of the new art studio spaces run by local developer John Salis.

There seems to be 2 addresses! 215 E 49th and 211 E 49th. I presume the location(s) are the same building! Or is one next door to the other? In any case it should be fun to bump into others looking for the exact entrance. (And isn't 17 - 21h. the same as 5 PM to 9 PM on the 24 hour clock mode?)

This is a viewing of a new exhibition of works by an international selection of artists including myself. I'll be flying in from London to attend and it will be great to meet you all. Check my work on http://www.leslielismore.com

It would be helpful if there was more information. Is this a reception for a new exhibit or it it a viewing of the permanent collection. Could someone tell the group what we are seeing, why this night is special and more specifically what we are to expect. Thanks.
