Art and Faith: Part one

Our recent gathering produced a bounty of ideas for future Art Salon discussions.

As we approach months deep in faith based activities we'd like to have two month's of discussions that are inspired by the following type of questions

NOVEMBER: FAITH AND THE VISUAL ART

(1) how our faith affects our VISUAL ART making process, subject and inspiration.

(2) do we hide or promote our faith in our VISUAL ART

(3) historically how faith was evident in VISUAL ART

(4) does faith evident art increase or decrease sales?

(5) why do you create faith based art?

This is not a discussion about "religion(s)". It is about art.

DECEMBER: FAITH AND MUSIC

(1) how our faith affects our music and songs making process, subject and inspiration.

(2) do we hide or promote our faith in our music and songs

(3) historically how faith was evident in music and songs

(4) are faith based music pieces divisive or inclusive

(5) why do you create faith based art?

This is not a discussion about "religion(s)". It is about art.

These questions are simply a springboard for a rich conversation and may/may not be the exact questions brought forward. Feel free to bring ideas and experiences.

Look forward to seeing you at a future gathering.

Goddamn! Sure is a lot of "faith" dominating two months worth of agendas ... is this really a group of and for artists? I'd be more interested in exploring 'doubt'. (Flip side of the same coin?) Still, I'd have been there last night if not out of town. My 2 cents? There are SO many subjects more interesting than Faith!

I figured you were one of those who likes to challenge the status quo---and I like to challenge the challengers! : ) Perhaps you can suggest some other topics. I suspect you'd have some interesting and 'challenging' ideas.

Hahah ... I have already sent Karl a detailed list of 10 alternative topics.
