"Wicked" with special ticket offer & exclusive Cast Party after the show

Entertainment Weekly calls WICKED "the best musical of the decade,” and when it last played Pittsburgh in 2011, it broke box office records and sold out in record time.

Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, WICKED is Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, a cultural phenomenon and was just named “the defining musical of the decade" by The New York Times.

Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time" (USA Today).

Check out this article about the show: http://triblive.com/aande/theaterarts/5339959-74/wicked-broadway-million#axzz2q1nN8WJ9

A WICKED OFFER JUST FOR YOU!

The Pittsburgh Cultural Arts Meetup members will receive a prime Directors Circle or Orchestra Floor ticket to WICKED on January 17, 2014 along with exclusive access to the post-show cast party with complimentary food/drinks, photo/autograph opportunities, etc. for an evening you'll never forget.

New contributors will also receive a one year Partners membership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust during 2014!

Please note that availability is limited. This offer will expire once tickets have been exhausted. Tickets will be processed in the order they are received. To order your tickets ($115 each), please visit https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1648051-z0fgNIKrPO by January 16.

Please note that Directors Circle and Orchestra Floor are prime seats inside the Benedum with a great view to the stage!

With this special offer, you'll be getting seats that otherwise wouldn't be widely available unless you might be willing to possibly pay a lot more in aftermarkets as most of the best seats for Wicked shows are 95+% sold already. With this special offer, you're avoiding hassle and saving even more money since there are no handling fees.

In addition, a one-year membership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust includes all of these benefits:
•Invitations to Cast Parties
•Discounts and specials at Cultural District restaurants
•Member discount for Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh tickets
•A complimentary one-year subscription to Pittsburgh Quarterly Magazine
•Receive TrustOvations Member Newsletter and Trust Events Catalogue
•The opportunity to purchase tickets for annual Members Night on Broadway Event
•Support the Education and Community Outreach Department and send a student to a School Day Matinee Series performance, master-class or provide art supplies for a workshop activity
•Make your mark on downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District, which offers performing and visual arts, children's programming, public parks, festivals and so much more.

As a reminder, this 1-year membership is by household/address so this is important if you're thinking about this offer as a gift or bringing friends/family. Please contact Jenn at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust if you have any questions for including the membership for others, such as if you could pay for this but give another address for the membership [masked]

Please note that tickets will be processed in the order that they are received. It may take a week or two for processing due to the holidays.  Again, this offer is extended only through the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust development department, so you must use the link to the form. The link will be deactivated once the limit has been reached.

Stay tuned for updates!

Please note it is also OK if people would like to attend the show and buy tickets on their own. FYI, the Friday 1/17 show is already 99.9% sold and there are less than 30 single seats (i.e., not together) in the $89-$107 range plus ticketing handling which can sometimes be as high as $8-$12/ticket.  And certainly prices vary even more in aftermarkets (people selling via stubhub, ebay, craiglist, etc. where scalping may be going on).  So the Meetup package -- where people have great seats, can sit together, enjoy 1-yr membership benefits, and cast party following the Friday Jan 17 performance -- is a good deal.

Just a side note - if you ordered AFTER Jan. 10, your tickets will be held at Will Call.

If you ordered before January 10 and don't have your ticket(s), PLEASE contact me ASAP. If you go to Will Call, they will not be able to print you one as these tickets were all put in a Trust-affiliated account.

Vicky G. has already contacted me with this similar issue.

    Thanks!

It will be busy night in the Cultural District, so it is recommended that you arrive early so that you can relax (and pick up your tickets) and perhaps have a little more time to meet/mingle with others in the group.

I'm planning on being downtown early, so if anyone would like to meet earlier this is OK. I'll be wearing something easy to spot -- brown coat, ivory sweater, scarf, and khaki pants.

From 6-6:45 PM, I'll be at the Crazy Mocha (801 Liberty Avenue) very close to the Harris Theater.

From 6:45-7:30 PM, I'll be at SPACE Gallery which is across the street from Crazy Mocha at 812 Liberty Avenue. If you're relatively new to Meetup and don't know many people, I strongly suggest you come over to SPACE Gallery to check out the exhibit and meet some others in the Meetup group.

At 7:30 PM, we'll walk one block from SPACE Gallery to the Benedum. The Benedum will become very busy around 7:30 PM as most of the theatre goers arrive.

    January 17, 2014

    • Mark

There will be some information tables in the main lobby so people can stop by there (I'll say something about our group to the staff at these tables) -- but then people should gather in the lower lobby downstairs near the restrooms and coat check area.

The Benedum also has some nice rooms in the balcony -- if it possible to reserve them, I'll try -- but please check the lower lobby downstairs first near the near the restrooms and coat check area as this is the largest space.

I hope everyone can arrive early, especially if you don't know too many people. During intermission, people can also meet/mingle for a few minutes as you'll be seated with others in the Meetup group.

      January 17, 2014

    • Mark

Also, here is a link showing the real time parking availability downtown. http://parkpgh.org/ There is a garage at 9th and Penn, 6th and Penn, Smithfield and Liberty which are close to the Benedum ... also the Theater Square parking garage (on 7th across from Bossa Nova) is just 1/2-block away but a few dollars more than the others.

I just booked my ticket today I hope to see everyone there. I'm soooo excited....being that I did this at the last minute do I need to go to the box office to pick up the tickets?

Yes, that's correct - Benedum Center Will Call. We stopped sending tickets after January 10!

  • Cynthia T.

    Hi Jenn,

Where is the post show cast party? And do we need a ticket for that?

    January 16, 2014

    • Mark

Everyone that has bought a ticket via the Formstack (plus existing Trust members) should be receiving an email with the Cast Party location and details following the show. You don't need a ticket for the cast party as there will already be a guest list as people arrive and check in around 10:45 PM. They're expecting 230+people at the Cast Party so it should be a lot of fun. This is the last day to order the tickets https://www.formstack.... and the form only takes a couple minutes to fill it out.

    • Jenn

      Hi Cynthia,

I sent a confirmation yesterday (subject was in all caps). You might want to check your spam folder! I'll forward again.

  • Mark

If anyone is still unsure about this deal, check out the ticket scalping going on for Friday's Wicked show where the asking prices are $122-$340/each in taking just one example website
    http://www.killerseats.com/2053282/Wicked-Pittsburgh-Tickets

And anyone looking to buy seats online or at the door for Friday's show is looking at limited availability since it is already 99.9% sold with only 24 single seats left (not together) which if you went online today would be in the range of $100 (including ticket handling) in the upper balcony further away from the stage (as compared to the Meetup seats) to $118 in sections comparable to Meetup. http://trustarts.culturaldistrict.org/performance/37674/tiers/show The $115 deal is really good since it also includes the Cast Party (with complimentary food/drinks after the show) and 1-year Trust membership with many benefits.

For those that haven't ordered your tickets yet but still want to attend this Friday's performance with the cast party following the show, please try to fill out the formstack link today to order your tickets before they are all gone https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1648051-z0fgNIKrPO

Just a few more days to reserve your tickets!

All orders will now be held at the Benedum Center box office. You can pick them up starting at around 5pm on Friday.

    January 13, 2014

  • Jenn

All orders have been processed and will go in today's mail.

There are a limited number of tickets left for January 17, so if you are going - please fill out the order form as soon as possible. The form will be deactivated on January 15 at 5pm. No requests can be made after that point for this performance. There are, however, great tickets still available for February 4.

Jenn has worked hard to extend this great offer to the Cultural Arts Meetup group. But if you've RSVP'd and have decided you can't make it, this might be the time to kindly update your RSVP as we could extend this offer to other Meetup groups.

      January 9, 2014

  • Pam Hammer M.

Then you need to let people know before they join your group to try new things that they need to be part of cultural trust group to be eligible for for

    January 5, 2014

    • Mark

Obviously, there is a lot of costs in arranging these types of benefits and so this wouldn't be possible unless there were many thousands of generous members/donors who believe the arts are important in Pittsburgh. So these types of events are one way to bring together like-minded people and give a bit of thanks. In addition, Trust members have the opportunities to buy tickets as a priority (i.e., after subscribers, but before they go onsale to the general public) to some of the hottest shows, including everything from Seinfeld, musicals like Wicked/Lion King/etc., and various concerts in the Cultural District.

      1 · January 6, 2014

    • Julia H.

Just from a completely outside opinion -- I wasn't part of the cultural trust prior to this event and I joined so that I could experience the caste party. That process is incredibly easy and they pretty much guide you through the process during your ticket sale. So the benefits are exclusive, but there's no barrier to entry, so it's really "open exclusivity" if you will. I think it was amazing that mark posted this on meetup or I'd have never known about it. Besides the seats are great.

    • Shannon

I know, I briefly got very excited when I found it ... Until I realized that that one won't work either. It's funny because I never usually have plans. Just bad timing. Ah well

      January 6, 2014

  • Pam Hammer M.

So it the general public is not welcome into your exclusive group don't post it on meet up like it is available for anyone that would go to the show I will just get my own ticket and go by myself

    January 5, 2014

    • Mark

Pam ... it is simply untrue that the 'general public' is not welcome to become a member of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust (PCT). In fact, all details is clearly shown on the PCT website http://trustarts.org/... Becoming a PCT member is really not much different than becoming a member of the Carnegie Museums, Heinz History Center, Phipps, Pittsburgh Zoo, etc. and with such memberships, there are various benefits such as being able to visit these places as often as you like without paying admission each time, discounts at gift shop, etc. Depending on the arts organization, ticket sales alone may only account for 25-70% of the overall revenue. So members, donors, corporate sponsors, etc. are all very important in terms of helping support the overall goal of making the arts more affordable for everyone. Please know I do not work for the PCT and am offering thoughts from a patron perspective.

      1 · January 5, 2014

    • Mark

For those that braved the cold weather on First Night, most were really impressed with the wide breadth of activities that the 'general public' was able to enjoy all for only $8/$10 button. PCT manages First Night, the free quarterly downtown Gallery Crawls (the next one is Jan 24), Three Rivers Arts Festival, free Katz Plaza JazzLive series, and other free events, art galleries, etc. open to the general public. And these cast parties sponsored by PCT is just one way the PCT expresses a bit of thanks to members/donors. If people in the Meetup aren't interested in this Wicked offer, that's fine. But complaining about it is really a bit much -- especially when some other people looking for good seats are paying ticket scalpers way above face value.

      January 5, 2014

  • Mark

As a reminder, there are less than 50 seats left for the Wicked ticket package deal which includes great seats and a complimentary one year membership to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust which offers many benefits. Meetup members are also saving since there are no ticket handling fees as the price includes everything. Hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start! And if you haven't seen Wicked before, this will be a spectacular production. This 1/17 show is 99.8+% sold already -- with only 38 single seats left (as of 1/3) that haven't been purchased by the public.

However, the remaining 48 reserved tickets for the Meetup are together in various sections (prime seats in Directors Circle and Orchestra Floor with a great view to the stage) plus you're getting a good deal.

To order your ticket package, please visit https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1648051-z0fgNIKrPO

    But don't wait too long!!

H,i when I ordered my tickets through the link above, I just got a simple email back that said thanks for your order, but did not have any other information and not even my name on it. Can you please advise how we will get our tickets? Thanks.

    December 31, 2013

    • Jenn

They would be mailed to you.

      1 · January 3, 2014

  • Jenn

    Hi there, folks!

I just want to chime in on what Mark mentioned. As a reminder, this offer is ONLY available through the development department of the Trust. If you'd prefer to go a different date, please contact the box office or visit our website at TrustArts.org. These tickets were secured at a group rate. It is possible that you may pay higher prices if you go another date as we unfortunately cannot extend a group rate for alternative dates.

Tickets will be mailed. Please note that after January 10, all tickets will be held for pick-up. Depending on the response, the form may be turned off early, but I plan to deactivate the form on January 15. If you are interested and haven't made your order yet, please do so as soon as you can.

    Thank you!

Hello. I am not interested in joining the Cultural Trust. Also, I don't wish to attend the cast party. Is there another ticket price under these circumstances?

    January 2, 2014

    • Mark

Without going to aftermarkets (people selling tickets they already have on ebay, stubhub, craigslist, etc.), here is the current seating plan showing ticket availability http://trustarts.cult... and one can readily see there are less than 20 seats left at $107 on the floor or Directors Circle, 8 seats left at $102 in the middle balcony, and less than 15 seats at $89 in the upper balcony. Depending on whether you buy these over the internet or phone there will also be a ticket handling charge unless you buy in person at the Box Office (cheapest option - no ticket handling). You'll also notice that most of these 40 or so seats in the $89-$107 range are single seats (not 2 together if you're bringing someone) and also means that this performance is already 99.8%+ sold given the Benedum's seating capacity. So you could buy one of these remaining 40 or so tickets on your own.

      January 2, 2014

    • Mark

Last Spring, there was a similar discount package offer with the Trust membership combined with tickets for "The Book of Mormon" at the Benedum ... and for people that took advantage of it got invited to a number of cool behind-the-scenes events where free food/drinks were also provided. So the membership does have benefits.

It may take a week or two for processing due to the Christmas holiday and that I'm in the midst of year-end fundraising. Again, this offer is extended only through the development department, so you must use the link to the form. The link will be deactivated once the limit has been reached. December 11, 2013

    Hi, folks!

As Mark said, details will be released soon. We're a bit slammed right now with year-end fundraising activities!

In the meantime, mark your calendars for either January 17 or February 4. These are the dates that I have reserved.

Please note that tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will have a limited block of tickets available on the floor or in the Directors Circle, so I suggest you reserve your tickets as soon as possible once the order form is up. This offer is only available through the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust development department and cannot be accessed on the TrustArts website, box office or PCT's Group Sales department.

Thanks and please let me know if you have further questions!

    • Mark

Yes, there will be a block of seats reserved for the Meetup. Since "Wicked" is still about 2 months away, we're still working on the details. For example, it is worth the wait if we could schedule one of Meetups as the same date as the Cast Party which takes some coordination. We hope to announce everything in the next few weeks.
