"Wicked" with special ticket offer!

Entertainment Weekly calls WICKED "the best musical of the decade,” and when it last played Pittsburgh in 2011, it broke box office records and sold out in record time.

Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, WICKED is Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, a cultural phenomenon and was just named “the defining musical of the decade" by The New York Times.

Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time" (USA Today)

A WICKED OFFER JUST FOR YOU!

The Pittsburgh Cultural Arts Meetup members will receive a prime Directors Circle or Orchestra ticket to WICKED on February 4, 2014 along with a drink pass to the Backstage Bar.

New contributors will also receive a one year Partners membership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust during 2014!

Please note that availability is limited. This offer will expire once tickets have been exhausted. Tickets will be processed in the order they are received. To order your tickets ($107 each), please visit https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1541447-z0fgNIKrPO

Please note that Directors Circle and Orchestra Floor are prime seats inside the Benedum with a great view to the stage!

With this special offer, you'll be getting seats that otherwise wouldn't be widely available unless you might be willing to possibly pay a lot more in aftermarkets as most of the best seats for Wicked shows are 98+% sold already. With this special offer, you're avoiding hassle and saving even more money since there are no handling fees.

In addition, a one-year membership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust includes all of these benefits:
•Invitations to Cast Parties
Discounts and specials at Cultural District restaurants
Member discount for Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh tickets
A complimentary one-year subscription to Pittsburgh Quarterly Magazine
•Receive TrustOvations Member Newsletter and Trust Events Catalogue
•The opportunity to purchase tickets for annual Members Night on Broadway Event
•Support the Education and Community Outreach Department and send a student to a School Day Matinee Series performance, master-class or provide art supplies for a workshop activity
•Make your mark on downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District, which offers performing and visual arts, children's programming, public parks, festivals and so much more.

As a reminder, this 1-year membership is by household/address so this is important if you're thinking about this offer as a gift or bringing friends/family. Please contact Jenn at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust if you have any questions for including the membership for others, such as if you could pay for this but give another address for the membership [masked]

Please note that tickets will be processed in the order that they are received. It may take a week or two for processing due to the holidays.  Again, this offer is extended only through the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust development department, so you must use the link to the form. The link will be deactivated once the limit has been reached.

In addition, after the show the group can gather at the Backstage Bar/Cabaret Theatre (1/2-block walk from the Benedum) to enjoy cocktails, wine specials (only $3.50 per glass), and craft beer specials ($2.50/bottle).

Stay tuned for updates!

Please note it is also OK if people would like to attend the show and buy their tickets on their own. FYI, the Tuesday 2/4 show is already 99+% sold -- but by the night of the show may reach the 99.7+% range especially as the date draws closer and people start reading all the great reviews about the show.  Of note is that the remaining unsold tickets are in the $89-$149 range plus ticketing handling which can sometimes be as high as $8-$12/ticket. And certainly prices vary even more in aftermarkets (people selling via stubhub, ebay, craiglist, etc. where scalping may be going on). So the Meetup package -- where people have great seats, can sit together, enjoy 1-yr membership benefits, and free drink at the Backstage Bar -- is a good deal.

Some subscriber seats have just opened up (maybe if they have switched to another dates) for tonight's show. http://trustarts.culturaldistrict.org/performance/37695/tiers/show

  • Mark

Hope everyone is looking forward to tonight's show. The Meetup should gather in the lower lobby near the coat check area prior to the show. We can mingle until around 7 PM or so before people head to their seats. I'll be wearing a brown coat with an ivory scarf.

The show begins at 7:30 PM so please don't be late. There is something like a 10-minute hold once the show begins so as to not disrupt the first scene (i.e., meaning anyone coming in after 7:30 PM will wait for the first number/scene before ushers seat people who are late).

In past Wicked shows, the mens room in the lower lobby has been switched to womens in an effort to alleviate the long lines. So if you head to the lower lobby and an usher mentions something to you, please let them know you're headed down there to meet with a group before the show begins. The Meetup can also mingle during intermission or after the show if desired.

The Meetup package deal offer has closed via the formstack link. But for those still interested in Wicked, check http://trustarts.culturaldistrict.org/performance/37695/tiers to see what tickets might still available for tonight (as sometimes there are seats that open; for example, if a subscriber were to switch performance dates) or for remaining performances through Sunday, February 9.

  • Jenn

    Hey folks --

This offer is closed. Again, apologies to those of you who tried to order tickets last night. Due to an excess of tickets, I was forced to turn them out for sale yesterday afternoon or be on the tab for a lot of tickets. In the process, I forgot to deactivate the order form.

I would recommend checking TrustArts.org to see if there are still tickets available for tonight (there are seats that always open) or for any other show time.

If anyone is still on the fence regarding Wicked, please know that are a number of the remaining performances are completely sold out -- this Saturday (both matinee and evening) and Sunday matinee -- while the Sunday evening closing performance has just 3 seats left. And there are just a handful of seats left for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights; and these are mostly singles (i.e, not 2 seats together). As this is the final week for this touring production of Wicked, this final week is already 99.7% sold. So if you really want to see Wicked, you should consider attending with the Meetup on Tuesday night.

I saw "Wicked" on the first date and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. If you can afford it, you shouldn't miss this show.

    January 29, 2014

  • Nikki

I just completed the form online. Look forwarded seeing Wicked a 2nd time! Time to defy gravity!

    January 29, 2014

  • Julia E. T.

I wish I could go, but, I can't really afford it! If I went I wouldn't be able to do much else, I'd rather do some free and cheaper things; so I can get out more, and space my money out more throughout the month! If I go, I will go when it is convient for me, and I would buy the cheapest seats! But, unfortunately, I am not going to make it this time around! Julia

  • Jenn

If you've already purchased tickets, they will be mailed today.

Tickets are still available. Please make your order as soon as possible. Thanks!

Is the contribution on the order form the price of the ticket or is this an additional fee to the cultural truat

      January 25, 2014

    • Mark

The ticket package $107 includes everything -- a great seat for the 2/4 show, 1-yr Trust membership with many benefits, plus a free drink at the Backstage Bar. Anything else you see on the form deals with an optional/extra donation but is not necessary. Again, $107 includes everything!

Can I still order tickets for this day?

    January 20, 2014

  • Julia E. T.

I can't afford no $104 bucks! I thought mark said the tickets start at $40? How is that a bargain? Julia

    December 20, 2013

    • Mark

budget, so people in the Meetup can decide what is best for them.

      December 20, 2013

    • Jenn

      Julia,

I just saw this now and wanted to respond as well. Mark was correct in stating that tickets are $40 - this price was applicable to seats in the very last rows of the Second Tier. The tickets we are offering for the meet-up group are actually located in Directors Circle. Presently, a pair is going for $233. The biggest difference between our offer and purchasing online is that the added contribution per ticket enables you to become a member of the Trust for one full year. With that membership, you'll receive restaurant discounts, invitations to cast parties and more. Unfortunately, while we would like to, we couldn't discount the ticket because Broadway tickets usually do not qualify for discounts unless specified by the national tour. I hope that helps explain things a little further.

      Sincerely,

      Jenn

Is there a way to apply this to tickets already purchased? A friend purchased ours last October due to the popularity of the show....

    January 14, 2014

      Kaitlin,

Sorry about no response! I cannot guarantee that an exchange can be done, but please email me with information at [masked]. Thanks!

Please note it is also OK if people would like to attend the show and buy their tickets on their own. FYI, the cheapest seats for Wicked are around $40 (although these aren't great seats) while the best seats are around $150. And certainly prices vary even more in aftermarkets (stub hub, ebay, etc). But the Meetup package with the membership is a good deal.
