Free Jazz at Katz Plaza, then Sundance winner "Crystal Fairy & The Magic Cactus"

First, we'll have the option to enjoy free jazz at the terrific Katz Plaza (7th and Penn, very close to the Benedum) where people can mingle and have a drink/food while enjoying the lively sounds of the Poogie Bell Band. While the band performs from 5-7 PM, it may be easier to meet around 6 PM (depending on everyone's work schedule) near the tables/trees between the stage and the outdoor bar area.

Then, for those attending jazz, we can walk 1.5 blocks to the nearby Harris Theater (809 Liberty Avenue) prior to the 7:30 PM screening of the Chilean film "Crystal Fairy & The Magic Cactus" which received the Directing Award (World Cinema Dramatic) at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.  This film has gotten great reviews (see below). Tickets are $8 adults, $7 students/seniors, $4 for CMU/Pitt/Art Institute.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the free Katz Plaza Jazz with the very lively Poogie Bell band.

While it is a bit cloudy now, the forecast doesn't call for rain later on ... and so it should be a nice evening.

FYI, in case it were to rain, they will move the jazz inside to the Backstage Bar/Cabaret Theater adjacent to Katz Plaza.

We'll be meeting behind the Katz Plaza stage near the patio seating area of the Backstage Bar. People can also order food and drinks. I'll try to say something to the bartender about the Meetup group. If we haven't met before, I'll be wearing a light blue polo shirt with black Dockers. Also, if you're only interested in the Harris Theater movie, this is fine also. People can meet at the Harris Theater lobby at 7:15 PM prior to 7:30 PM movie.

Another nearby option (based on interests of some people) is the Diana Ross concert at Heinz Hall. So it is OK if people would like to meet for Katz Plaza jazz and then go to the concert.

Please note there has been a change in the movie that will be shown at the Harris Theater. Instead of "Much Ado About Nothing" they will show the Chilean film "Crystal Fairy & The Magic Cactus" which received the Directing Award (World Cinema Dramatic) at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

In this freewheeling comedy from the director of The Maid, Michael Cera (Arrested Development, Superbad) stars as Jamie, a shaggy, boorish young American traveling through Chile. While searching for a rare hallucinogen-the famed San Pedro cactus-with a trio of Chilean brothers, Jamie invites a mysterious hippie (Gaby Hoffmann) along for the ride, but her free-spirited personality quickly clashes with his self-absorption. When they head for the beach, Jamie's big trip starts taking surprising turns.

Also, for those that would rather do something else, Diana Ross will be performing at Heinz Hall (8 PM). For tickets, please visit http://trustarts.culturaldistrict.org/production/38540/diana-ross

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
