Urban Art Tours & Graffiti Workshop at Carrie Furnace

Tickets are around $40 for a 3-hour Carrie Furnaces tour and workshop while learning more about the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area. It's pretty interesting and quite enlightening. Not what you'd expect for something graffiti related in Pittsburgh.

PLEASE NOTE - The June 21 tour date has been rescheduled for July 19

Here's the info:

Learn about the underground culture of graffiti, its history and how it continues to evolve today as an art form. The tours will walk you through the entire Carrie Furnaces site, highlighting works while encouraging open discussion about graffiti as a whole. The workshops give our guests a hands on experience with design, letter form, specific techniques, and painting with aerosol.

A limited number of tickets are available. Allow 3 hours. Recommended for ages 8+

Please note that Advanced Sale tickets are very important so they can plan to have enough supplies for guests.

To sign up, please visit www.bit.ly/graffititours

If you can't attend on July 19, please consider attending one of the other monthy urban art tour/workshop dates which take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month from May-October. Place see the above flyer schedule.

There is still time to buy tickets in advance via ShowClix http://www.showclix.com/event/3805778 For all of the details, please visit http://www.riversofsteel.com/things-to-do/event/urban-art-tour/

As a reminder, participants should dress appropriately for the weather as most of the tour is outdoors. Heels and/or open-toed shoes are not permitted. Please note that the Carrie Furnaces are part of a formerly abandoned industrial site so wear something comfortable so you can really enjoy this very unique tour which sheds light on the arts as well as a glimpse of Pittsburgh's industrial past.

Also, I forgot to mention that tickets are sold in advance on Rivers Of Steel's website ( www.bitly.com/graffititours takes you to the page). The more tickets purchased in advance the better! Thanks!

We just received notice that tomorrow's Urban Art Tours & Graffiti Workshop at Carrie Furnace has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 21. So there will not be a tour this Saturday (May 17) -- but perhaps people can join the Urban Art Tours & Graffiti Workshop at Carrie Furnace on June 21 instead, or one of the other tour dates later on this summer. For more information, or to update your RSVP for the new date (June 21) please visit http://www.meetup.com/Art-lovers/events/181728542/
