The PNME involves unique collaborations among musicians, artists, and composers from Pittsburgh and throughout North America. Since its founding in 1976, PNME has commissioned and premiered over 200 works.

The 2014 PNME Season begins the weekend of July 11-12, and continues for four weeks until August 2-3.

Concert #1 (July 11-12) is based on the theme of "The Lost Traveler"

The first breath of life and sense of “self” is an awe inspiring moment. It may be our most intimate, pure memory – one perhaps impossible to access consciously. The journey that follows through adulthood and eventually to an inevitable return to a childlike state is a loop that has been repeating longer than any of us can comprehend. The voyage is filled with both wonder… and distraction. Whether by choice or through forced re-birth, The Lost Traveler is, in part, about wresting oneself from all delusion in search of the true self once again. This concert will feature the following works by various composers:

   Iannis Xenakis: Rebonds (A)

   Kevin Puts: Living Frescoes

   Iannis Xenakis: Rebonds (B)

   Martin Bresnick: The Lost Traveler

   Vinko Globokar: Corporel

These PNME Concerts are typically 1-2 hours, so it is not too long of an evening -- and is easily incorporated with other plans, such as dining before the show or going out for a drink afterwards.

In addition, if you have never been to a PNME concert before, PNME graciously offers first timers a free ticket!! First timers can pick up their free ticket at the Box Office beginning at 7 PM (one hour before the concert). See below for details.

Also, as another discount bonus -- if you've been to PNME before and bring someone new, you'll also receive a 50% off ticket.

MEETUP Considerations

Because of the Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh event already scheduled for July 11, the July 12 performance date has been selected for this Meetup. But if people would like to go to PNME on Friday instead on their own or in smaller groups, this is also fine.

When you RSVP, please indicate if you'd also like to consider meeting for dinner at a local Southside restaurant before the show or go out afterwards around 10 PM.

I had to go out this afternoon and so just got this now. This may not work out timewise as my printer at home is broken and so I'd have to print it out at the library, which is where I'm at now, and the library will be closing shortly. Of course, I forgot that point when I responded. I think Mark had a good suggestion. I hope PNME will be able to accommodate you considering what happened. My apologies, and I'm very sorry about your fracture, Janet.

This is PNME's 39th Season and with this rich history, they also have many subscribers.

While the concert begins at 8 PM, it is not recommended you wait that late to try to get a free ticket. There is a chance these concerts could sell out. If you can get there 7:15-7:30 PM, that would be better so people have a chance to mingle a bit in the theater lobby before heading to their seats.

The City Theatre lobby serves beer, wine, cocktails, coffee/tea/soft drinks along with cookies/snacks.

These PNME concerts are General Admission -- Open Seating. So this is another reason to get there a little early before the concert begins.

If you're in the South Side, there are many places near City Theatre. So you can pick up your free ticket beginning at 7 PM and have enough time for a quick bite to eat, ice cream, or drink.

If we haven't met before, I'll be wearing something easy to spot -- a white Nautica polo shirt with jeans and glasses. Please feel free to introduce yourself.

Hope everyone is looking forward to the new PNME summer season. As a reminder, if you have never been to a PNME concert before, PNME graciously offers first timers a free ticket!! First timers can pick up their free ticket at the Box Office beginning at 7 PM (one hour before the concert). See below for details.

As another discount bonus -- if you've been to PNME before and bring someone new, you'll also receive a 50% off ticket.

The PNME Summer Season includes 4 weekends -- each with a different concert program.

The first concert weekend is July 11-12 (but since we already have Cosmopolitan Pittsburgh posted for July 11), many may opt for PNME on July 12

The second concert weekend is July 18-19

The third concert weekend is July 25-26

The fourth concert weekend is August 2-3 So you can decide which concert(s) you'd like to attend. All four concerts are posted (with themes) so you can indicate preferences as far as the date http://www.meetup.com/Art-lovers for getting groups

Julia ... members have to edit their own Meetup profile in order to change their email address, other changes, etc. So when you log into Meetup, look in the upper right corner and click on 'My profile' and then a window will come up where you can make changes.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
