An Evening of Arts for Autism
Please join us for a poignant, powerful and thrilling evening of dance, illusion and film, featuring several of Pittsburgh's most celebrated performance artists.
Dima Harmon, composer and classical pianist will greet guests as they enter the theater and keep the stage alive during intermission with unforgettable pieces.
Renowned jazz vocalist Tania Grubbs will open the evening in style with a few songs on the main stage. The program continues with choreographer/dancer Gwen Ritchie who will perform a solo called 'Transitions (a work in progress)' using spoken word and her signature sweeping style. Ritchie brings humor and humbleness to the subject of life transitions - whether they be hers or those of her son who has autism.
Next in the line up is premiere Pittsburgh illusionist and magician, 'Magicman' TJ Hill. TJ has received accolades from the Pittsburgh Penguins and has performed magic for more than 10 years. Guests will be astonished as they witness levitation and thoroughly amused by the Magicman's comedic spin on the art of illusion.
Finally, guests will experience the first ever public screening of the short films made during Pittsburgh's 2012 Joey Travolta Film Camp. This inclusive camp allows adolescents and young adults with autism to learn the art of filmmaking alongside their neurotypical peers and industry professionals.
Doors open at 7pm. Show begins at 7:45pm. A cocktail reception, silent auction and roving magic conclude this memorable evening!
Please note that all proceeds will benefit Pittsburgh's Joey Travolta Scholarship Fund
In addition, Meetup members will receive a complimentary ticket upgrade to VIP status.
