As photographers it is important to see works of fine art photographers in the printed format that they are intended. The gallery tour has many outstanding artists. Of note this month are:
Brett Weston at Nichols Gallery,
Linda Conner at Haines Gallery,
Steve Fitch at Koch Gallery,
Idris Kahn at Fraenkel Gallery,
and many other photography, painting and mixed media exhibits that UrbEx photographers will enjoy, ponder and be influenced in a positive way. Please join us.
“First Thursday” is when a number of SF galleries stay open later for the public 5:30-7:30, the first thursday of the month. 49 Geary St. is where well-known contemporary art galleries like Fraenkel, Haines, Koch, Wiriz, and more are located. Unlike the museums, art in the galleries is generally edgier, sometimes controversial, maddening, etc. but hardly mundane. Guaranteed to start spirited discussions. We'll start gathering in front of the building at 5:30 and be ready to go up the elevators by 5:40. 2 hrs. is a long time for viewing, 90 min is more realistic; will start our social at a pizzeria at 7:10. No "Show & Tell" this time. We'll be joined by a few museum meetup members that should bring another perspective of the exhibits.
