November Meetup: Jiro Dreams Of Sushi

Our Thanksgiving pick is also the first ever documentary pick for Art On Life; Jiro Dreams Of Sushi.

85-year-old sushi master Jiro Ono runs a 10-seat sushi restaurant in the Ginza Tokyo Subway station, but reservations have to be made months in advance and it's arguably the most expensive restaurant in the world. However, time marches on as he prepares his son to take over the family business.

As always, dinner will be catered in, so please bring $10 for that as well as a snack or a beverage to share.

PARKING AND THE ENTRANCE IS TO THE REAR OF THE BUILDING.

Please respect the RSVP as we need an accurate head count for food. If you find later that you can't make it, there is usually a waiting list, so please be kind enough to change you RSVP to make room for someone else and also keep our catering planning accurate. Thanks!

Do not want to cancel...but I come from Ventura County and it looks like a big storm is headed this way. Will do my best to get there, but do not order dinner for me just in case I don't.

Unfortunately I can't attend this meeting but, ironically I found out about this film last Thanksgiving it was all anyone could talk about at Thanksgiving Dinner. I went downstairs and watched it on my I PAD at my sister's house. Very inspiring film - it's about Sushi but, also about achieving excellence. Hopefully can attend your next event.

    Hey Kristin,
I will be watching the movie only, not having dinner. I hope that helps with the planning of the food order.

Hey, you Crazy Kids! It's that time again, when I beg you to not change your RSVP after Friday night, and about half of you recklessly ignore me, invoking wrath and shame upon yourself (jk). But risking insanity by trying the same thing and hoping for a different outcome, I again ask that you change your RSVP before Friday if you need to, unless there is a real emergency, which of course we understand happens. We need an accurate headcount because we order in food for everyone. Also, some months we have waiting lists and people need to know if a spot opens up as early as possible so that they can plan accordingly. If you'd rather not eat what we order, no problem, just leave a comment here and I won't order for you. The cost of the event is 10 if you eat, and 5 if not, with remaining money after food going to the space. This month, since we are watching a movie about a sushi chef, we'll be having pizza, pasta and wings. Veggie options will be available as well. TAKE NOTE ALSO- in December we will be doing a

Hmmm- I think it cut me off. Oops. In December, we'll do a potluck, and I will post details on that later. Thanks!

Again it's on the same day as movie day in El Segundo. An old silent movie, Laurel and Hardy. With a Woman's group. I am really setting myself up. The film sounds good. enjoy!

Really wish I could but as we found last month at Rebel Alliance, it's cost prohibitive. We'll be doing something appropriate though, right Kristi?

This will be my first movie with the group. I am really looking forward to it!
