If you are getting this e-mail, it is because you are now part of the regular 'core' group of people who attend Art on Life. Not only that, but you are getting this invitation because I like you. There I said it. Call me elitist. I have wanted to host a special Art on Life at my house for those of you who regularly attend and contribute, to say thanks. The time has come, on Saturday, November 28th at 6pm, our regular time. We will also have our regular meeting in November on the 14th as well, and that will be open RSVP to all.
Linelle had a great idea for a dinner party centered around a film like Babette's Feast, which is a thematically rich film. So if everyone pitches in $10, we can have a great dinner catered and brought to us. I really enjoy your company and am looking forward to spending a more intimate evening here with you all! Please RSVP to my e-mail directly, as this is not open to the entire group, since we're now pushing 210 people. You can say it, we're kind of a big deal.
Also, let me know your preference for food. I'm partial to Mediterranean, but we have everything here in Burbank.
I live in the media district at 476 East Magnolia, on the corner of Magnolia and 5th.
We believe art is a reflection of life and by engaging in cinematic art we are able to learn more about what specific films are telling us about the human condition.
We are a very diverse group who gets together once a month to watch a film (somewhere in between a Hollywood Blockbuster and Indie Art House), then discuss it afterwards. We look for plot, theme, character development, screenwriting, cinematography, and use these things are starting points for discussion.
If you enjoy watching movies that make you think/feel, this is the group for you. We have watched films as diverse as The Diving Bell and The Butterfly to Donnie Darko, and directors as different as Alfred Hitchcock to Wes Anderson. No genre is untouched or undiscussed. If you hate it when people talk during a movie but won't/can't talk when it's done, then you need to be a part of our group.
