The Inaugural Mouth @ The Mark Twain House

The very first Hartford Mouth storytelling event will be on 2/22 (Friday) at 7:30! Hosted by our friends at WNPR, Chion Wolfe (Wolfie) will MC.. Following in the theme of the " the moth radio hour"...

It’s (appropriately) at the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford, and is TOTALLY FREE.

Each Mouth will be themed, and since this one is in February, it’s only right to tell a love story. If you’re interested in telling your story, email Chion at - [masked] or get to her on Facebook to tell her approximately how long the story will be (it’d be great if you could keep it under 15 minutes). If there’s time left in the night, we’ll ask if anyone in the audience has a story to tell!

THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION, just storytelling goodness without notes, in front of a bunch of friends, in a museum dedicated to one of our country’s best storytellers. No pressure. ;)

***Please note that the audio will be recorded for a compilation down the line.***

After the show is over, Wolfie will be soliciting ideas and feedback about what we could do better - if paying a little bit at the door, or donating in the future would still make you want to come back; if we should have some drinks in the lobby beforehand, or if that will just make you have to pee while forgetting all the major details of your story. Things like that.

There will be four more Mouth events this year, so mark ‘em down too:

Sunday, May 12th - 2pm - Mother’s Day - stories about mothers/motherhood

Sunday, June 16th - 2pm - Father’s Day - stories about fathers/fatherhood

Friday the 13th of September - 7:30 - Stories about luck

Friday, December 6 - 7:30 - Stories about the holidays

¡ The Inaugural Mouth ! W0W Thanks for organizing this event!, I found it refreshing and provocative ; in my opinion some of the stories , a bit too long, but I know that’s goes with the performance….. Someone noted an intermission, which I think would be a great idea, though getting very one back in the room may be a challenge. I think the time limit should be 7 minutes rather than 15 minutes, this will focus the storyteller to be more concise with Words & imaginary . On the Whole I give it 4 stars out of Five. a Wonderful evening which I will
encourage friends to attend. { Note: The Crows in the Trees … I found this mesmerizing, hundreds/or more: of crows were roosting in the trees, that evening, about the Mark Twain house and grounds… they chortled their welcome to me, as I walked though the grounds , and thought of Poe & Hitchcock . } and Twain; each crow told their story too.

Interesting...I noted the vocal crows, too. I still can't get a very large present they left off of my windshield...lol.

Interesting stories! I found the seating very cramped and uncomfortable! We could have used an intermission to stretch!

The event is open to all. It's only the meet up that has a limit.
