Loft Artist Association - First Open Studios at 575 Pacific Street
LETS MEET AT 6:30
Celebrating Our New Home in the South End
Live Music Friday evening by Kathy Muir
Friday November 1st from 6 - 9 PM
Roll out the New! The LAA kicks off a new era of art meets life in the South End- the long time arts group has found a new home at 575 Pacific Street. Open Studios, the LAA’s annual weekend long art event, will be quite a party this year as the LAA inaugurates their freshly built out studios and galleries. Doors open wide to the public, artists share their work and process with the inquisitive, and a raffle and auction add to the fun. After 6 years at 845 Canal, gentrification caught up with the 35 year old arts organization, propelling them into the market for new digs. Raw space on the second floor at 575 Pacific fit the bill for our new home and our prior landlord, Building and Land Technology, built out the new space for us.
Join us as we swing open the doors of our new home for the very first time.
LAA president Ellen Gordon is thrilled share the news about the exciting new space with two galleries and the addition of a dozen talented new artist members to the impressive list of established members of the Loft Artists Association stage. The group is especially excited to welcome musician Kathy Muir to the LAA, she brings a distinctive voice and lyrical style that combines a blend of acoustic and pop influences infused with a hint of jazz, Kathy brings a unique spectrum of songs to the stage.
The Loft Artists pioneered the South End of Stamford setting up an artist colony in the old Yale & Towne Factory that now boasts contemporary apartments. They produced happenings, performances, tours and lectures that attracted thousands of people from the tri state area. They taught workshops, gave demonstrations and opened their doors inviting the community to see the creative process first hand…. and now, 35 years later, they continue their great outreach tradition and invite you to what has become known as Stamford’s greatest art experience,“OPEN STUDIOS 2013”.
So join us on Friday November 1st from 6 – 9 pm.
The Loft Artists Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to building connections within Fairfield County’s visual arts community and exposing the general public to artists and their work. Their grassroots events attract thousands of visitors throughout the tri-state area and have been recognized by funding agencies, including the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, corporate and private sponsors, the City of Stamford and by visitors who return year after year.
