Bang on a Can All-Stars: Field Recordings

Saturday, July 21, 2012, 8:00 pm
Hunter Center
$24/$35 day pass (includes gallery admission)/$15 students/10% member discount

The Bang on a Can All-Stars return to MASS MoCA for the first time in five years with a new multimedia project featuring hot-off-the-presses commissioned works by Tyondai Braxton, Mira Calix, Florent Ghys, Michael Gordon, David Lang, Christian Marclay, Todd Reynolds (performing live), Julia Wolfe, Nick Zammuto (also performing live), and Evan Ziporyn. These composers went into the field of sound itself to find something old or record something new, and responded to what they found with their music, in a dialogue.

This is definately is one of my favorite trips. Amazing museum nestled in scenic North Adams. Great town with much more to offer than just the museum. 28 factory buildings shucked full. The space is perfect for handling large scaled pieces with 3 floors of one building dedicated to Sol LeWitt, this is the place to really appreciate his work, up close and personal. Beautifully lit space with glowing hardwood floors and brick walls holding original Patina and old factory charm. We also where fortunate to hear 2 performances. The works of Phillip Glass in one of the gallery spaces, great acoustic & works! Bang on a Can, interesting, must say that I did not care for some of the pieces, but kept an open mind. To anyone who did not join us, I highly recommend you put this on your list of places to see, it has so much to offer!

I have 3 riding with me, Dal, David M,and Farrah. Anna is offering to drive too. I am asking that those who haven't answered me to let us know if you plan on meeting us so we have enough car space. If you show up expecting to carpool without having contacted us, we can not guarantee we have space for you, we have to be fair to those who answered so we plan accordingly. Also you are asked to help your driver out with the expenses of gas, tolls, parking, we will be leaving at 9:30 SHARP

Yes carpooling is still available. I have not heard of another offer to help drive from Ikea location yet though, I can take 3 people, and as I said it is with the intent to stay for the evening concert. I would suggest ordering your ticket ahead of time, I have never been there for an event, so I am not sure what the response will be for tickets.

I am wondering if car pooling from Ikea still available? do we need to purchase the ticket in advance, or it can be bought at the door?

Got my ticket....I need to hear from some of yo on if you plan on carpooling with us, I also will need at least another driver maybe more. Pleas advise me if you will be meeting in NH at Ikea or North in the Harford area. I plan on spending the day and the evening there for the concert.

Looking for more volunteers for driving that are willing to stay for the concert...I am leaving from Ikea in New Haven and will take 3 people. Hoping someone from the Northern area...Hartford/Middletown would be willing to drive some folks from that area. I am thinking that folks that are meeting at Ikea with me, will be leaving at 9:30 (a little under a 3 hour trip) SHARP SHARP SHARP!
