Science on Screen: Science is Fiction

Science on Screen: Science is Fiction

The mesmerizing, utterly unclassifiable short science films of Jean Painlevé [masked]) have to be seen to be believed: delightful, surrealist-influenced dream works that are also serious science. The French filmmaker-scientist-inventor had a decades-spanning career in which he created hundreds of short films on subjects ranging from astronomy to pigeons to, most famously, such marine-life marvels as the sea horse and the sea urchin.

With live musical accompaniment by Dr. Caterwaul's Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps.

The movie was poor, but the music was excellent, different and fascinating. The company was great.

Interesting, and beautifully shot, a bit long though. Enjoyed the music paired with the film.

This sounds so great, but I need to grab the dry weather to stain my deck while I can. Take notes for me. :)

I'd like to attend, but I have a conflict that night. Perhaps I can resolve it. How long will the film program last?
