Vulture Quartet Announces their 50th Show!
London-based avant garde music group Vultures Quartet will play their 50th gig on 5 Dec, 2011, at the Boat-Ting event held at the Bar&Co yacht moored at Temple Pier on the Thames, across from Temple tube stop, London WC2R 2PN. http://www.facebook.c... (most of you will know where this is - it's across from where Wrecked Again took place a few years ago)
Vultures Quartet is an improvising and new music group from London; consisting of core members Matt Chilton, Will Connor, and Anthony Donovan, whose revolving fourth member policy has led to collaborations with the likes of Jo Quail, Damo Suzuki, and Sandeep Mishra. Working across the fields of music, visual art and film, its members take influence from Futurism, Dadaism, post-rock, noise-jazz, and avant-classical music to create a new ground-breaking hybrid that remains organically formed. Vultures Quartet has supported Faust and Nurse with Wound, and performed at the Tate Britain, the Schiphorst Avant Garde Festival, and the SPARK festival in Minnesota, USA.
The 50th show will feature honorary fourth member Steve Beresford performing with electronic devices and musical toys. Beresford is a lecturer in music at Westminster University and is well known for his works with the London Improviser's Orchestra, John Zorn, and The Slits among others.
The doors open at 8pm and the music begins at 8:30pm. Entrance is £6 and £4 concessions. All attendees will be given a link to free, unreleased Vultures Quartet material, and their latest release, a track on Zos Kia Sounds' two disc compilation for OxFam International, will be on sale at the event for £10 (all proceeds go to OxFam) There are also rumours of cake to be given away on the night...
