Call for Proposals for the 1st Annual ArtsTech Project: Matchmaking Initiative

Call for Proposals for the 1st Annual ArtsTech Project: Matchmaking Initiative
Deadline: September 6th, 2010

The Arts, Culture and Technology meetup (ArtsTech) is pleased to announce Project: Matchmaking,
a program that aims to facilitate collaboration between prominent NYC arts organizations and creative
professionals working at the intersection of arts and technology.

The Premise:
Through our monthly meetup series we've come into contact with many arts organizations struggling
to find the resources necessary to realize technological goals. Let’s face the harsh facts of the non-
profit world – funding for digital development is often hard to procure and among the first budgets to
get slashed in times of financial crisis.

We also encounter many talented developers, web designers, social media strategists, writers, researchers and other creative professionals looking to attract new clients or establish themselves in the highly insular arts space, or who are just arts enthusiasts looking for a rewarding side project.

So we thought, what if we paired these two groups together on a mutually beneficial task?

The Goal:
Take one arts organization with a technology-focused project lacking in funding and manpower to
reach completion. Pair the organization with a talented creative professional who possesses the skills
they’re looking for and is willing to work for the glory/experience/portfolio/contacts (essentially, little
to no pay).

The organization will be responsible for project managing the initiative and seeing it through to
completion. Ideally, all projects would be released as open source so they can continue to serve the arts
community at large.

1 . Arts organization must submit a project proposal by September 6th, 2010
2 . All submitted proposals must include:

  • Organization name
  • Contact info
  • Designated project manager
  • Description of project
  • Scope of work
  • Proposed timeline
  • Any available incentives for the creative professional

Projects will be selected by the ArtsTech organizing committee and all participants will be notified of
acceptance by September 13th, 2010.

Project: Matchmaking will kick off with a dedicated meetup event where projects will be presented by participating organizations before a crowd of interested creatives. The creatives will then be able to pitch their services and portfolios.
