Hello Arts New Mexico members!
Those of you who check into Arts New Mexico on Meetup.com regularly will find our page has a slightly different "look" to it. This is due to a change in the MEETUP HQ protocol... and it is required starting 5/1/13, so I went into the settings early and chose colors that were as near as possible to what we had. But, alas, the body of the message portion of the site will now have a new white background instead of a black background and that is not optional. Apparently, we live in a black & white world - and Meetup is going to white.
Secondly, I've come to a time in my life when I need to make Meetup.com pay for itself. As it is, (was) I spend about $80 twice per year to support the Meetup site. This was covered last year through submission fees to our group show at Aux Dog - which didn't happen this year. (although you should know that several artists have gone on to get their OWN show at Aux Dog and other area venues since then!... proof that the action's of last years organizers on the Arts New Mexico Meetup site did SOMETHING to help them get their work out there.
Anyway, since we have hundreds of members but just a core group of 30 to 40 who show up to events with any regularity... I've decided to go to a VOLUNTARY DONATION format. This will be in the form of annual dues, not per event. (web fees come due in July and January). I am asking folks who go to events or enjoy the information I send out and would be willing to contribute to consider just $2 to $5 a year. Those of you who organize and post PAID WORKSHOPS to the site, I would suggest a donation of at least $5 to $20 per year. If everyone who gets this contributes just $3 I could support the site for 5 years! However, I know the world is full of free-loaders, and also many folks still don't have a Pay Pal account... so lets assume just less than half of you contribute. Even that would be phenomenal!
You know best what your income is, and let's keep it that way, so I'm going to leave it up to you to chose a donation level that is comfortable for you and fair to what you put in and get out. Donations of ANY amount will be appreciated. If you have a Paypal account, Your voluntary dues can be sent to my Pay Pal account registered under the email: [address removed] PLEASE INCLUDE A NOTE WITH YOUR MEETUP IDENTITY INCLUDED!!! or I will not be able to mark you as paid and send a thank you note.

Please note: I WORK on the ground in Downtown & UNM area real estate, and don't spend but 1 or 2 days a week in my RR office... but I don't publish my home address on line - for obvious reasons.
I will only tally contributions once a month - so be patient. Please don't contribute $3 and then harass me for a receipt two days later. I don’t' have a secretary or assistant; I am not a non-profit entity; and your donation is not tax deductible. Your money DOES serve to support this site for another 6 months to a year, or more - depending on how many folks take action. Hey, it's less than a Latte @ Starbucks. ONE Latte - for a YEAR of Arts opportunity and social Serentipity. What a deal!
