Nicola Meecham’s repertoire incorporates composers as diverse as Chopin, Janácek and Moondog. In this concert she will premiere Tom Armstrong’s 'Morning Music', a memorial to the late Richard Hand.
She specialises in unjustly neglected corners of European piano music as her recordings of Kodalyi and Enescu demonstrate. Nicola won the prestigious Macfarren Gold Medal at the Royal Academy of Music and, as a Park Lane Group artist, has worked extensively with living composers.
Tom Armstrong’s 'Morning Music' will be premiered by Nicola and was written as a memorial to Richard Hand- classical guitarist, a close friend of Tom and Nicola and a musical regular in Guildford. Alongside this, Nicola will perform works by Schumann, Medtner, Debussy and Stravinsky.
In its juxtaposition of old and new this recital perfectly complements the British Contemporary Piano Competition final held the previous day
