Start to plan a 2014 AVL WordCamp

Come help us get the 2014 AVL WordCamp off the ground.

This will tell us if there is enough interest to procede with this project.  If there aren't enough people interested in coming to get it started, we'll put the idea on the shelf.  Come and show your support! You don't have to know anything about WordPress to help. There will be lots of jobs for everyone!

Bring any ideas you might have for venues, sponsors, and the after party!

This year's WordCamp RDU http://2013.raleigh.wordcamp.org/ will be taking place in Engineering Building II on Centennial Campus, November 23rd and 24th!

In past years this event has been held downtown at the Sheraton but by having the event on campus they've been able to cut down on costs a good deal: this year's event is only $35. Your ticket gets you a day and a half of sessions, plus lunch, some coffee and other snacks. There will be three tracks: Users, Power Users, and Developers, plus a keynote (TBA). They're still recruiting for speakers so please consider contributing: http://2013.raleigh.wordcamp.org/become-a-speaker/.

I just contacted them via their contact form but if you have a more direct way I could go about it feel free to send that my way. Thanks!

Julien, Steve Mortiboy at SemperFi Web Design, the company who supports All In One SEO and WordCamp Raleigh, as well as WordPress Raleigh can help. He will simply tell you to do the same thing though, submit on the form and he'll get back to you. I'm presenting on WordPress and Music Sites.

Hi everyone, I'm the organizer of WordPress Chapel Hill and former organizer of WordPress Westchester (NY). I've presented at WordCamp Raleigh and WordCamp NYC in the past. While I don't have any specific experience organizing a WordCamp, I'm sure the folks from Raleigh can offer advice/support for this endeavor, if you need their assistance, I can facilitate a discussion. I'm speaking in November on WordPress for Music Sites. My wife and I are going to be looking at houses in Black Mountain, Woodfin and Weaverville next weekend, as we're considering a move to that area and I'd love to get involved with through group and help out. I'll still maintain WP Chapel Hill, as we have a partnership with the Chapel Hill Public Library there. I'm sure some of you may have contacts at UNCA, but if not, I may be able to put you in contact with someone there for space, if there's a need in that regard.

Hi everyone, if you have time, please visit the following webpage in advance of our meetup on Wednesday to see the jobs that will be needed to make WordCamp happen. You can get an idea of which areas you may be interested in. http://plan.wordcamp.org/first-steps/the-organizing-team/

Everything I've read about WordCamp so far points to having a small core committee of about 6 people that heads up the above tasks, but we can have as many volunteers as we want to help out and report to those people. Thanks for reading and for your interest in making WordCamp Asheville happen!

Looks like there is an 80% local speaker requirement. Be thinking about your proposals!! http://www.poststat.us/weekend-phoenix-merge-back-wordcamp-phoenix/

I have spoken at Wordcamp Philadelphia and volunteered another time. Not sure what's involved exactly but it sounds like a good time ;). I am in.

Thanks Rich for the great reminder of how much work really goes into organizing a WordCamp. Hopefully we'll have enough committed individuals pulling together to make a go of it! Looking forward to our next meetup to discuss this...
