The Book of Joe by Jonathan Trooper

For April we will be reading The Book of Joe by Jonathan Trooper.

Synopsis:

Right after high school, Joe Goffman left sleepy Bush Falls, Connecticut and never looked back. Then he wrote a novel savaging everything in town, a novel that became a national bestseller and a huge hit movie. Fifteen years later, Joe is struggling to avoid the sophomore slump with his next novel when he gets a call: his father's had a stroke, so it's back to Bush Falls for the town's most famous pariah. His brother avoids him, his former classmates beat him up, and the members of the book club just hurl their copies of Bush Falls at his house. But with the help of some old friends, Joe discovers that coming home isn't all bad—and that maybe the best things in life are second chances.

There is no charge for the meetup, but the venue asks that we purchase refreshments from them.

I am so sorry to have to change my RSVP at the last minute. :( I woke up sick this morning and thought about waiting until tonight to see if I felt well enough to attend. However, I would rather someone who is on a waitlist to possibly attend instead.
I really enjoyed the book and I look forward to the next month's meeting. I am fairly new to Asheville and I look forward to meeting some new friends.

Sorry ladies I won't be able to attend. It's cycling season and I will be doing a group ride in preparation for the 63 Burnsville ride on Saturday. Hope to see you at the next book club.

In the interest of fairness to the entire group...I think that most of us really enjoy the present venue.

I have been fortunate to be able to attend all the dicussions for the books I've read with this group. I don't think it's about not enjoying this venue, and I'm very happy to be on the attending list for this book as well. I was just suggesting considering another venue for the future that could possibly handle a larger group so more members could partake in the discussions, in the interest of the entire group.

The link to join the waitlist appears to be broken. Is there a way to join, or to form a spinoff group with those of us waiting to join?

I would love to attend (and would definitely show up) but the lists fill up so fast that I've never been able to rsvp "yes" as an attendee. Is there a regular attendee who would be willing to take on the responsibility of organizing a second meeting? Also, some groups have a policy of dropping members who RSVP "yes" multiple times but never show up.

Tiffany, I think you do a great job with this group, and it therefore has increased in popularity. It is a shame that so many members has been inconsiderate in not updating their RSVP to not attending, and you may need to restrict their membership. This venue is unable to acommodate larger groups, do you think we could move to another venue
