Hi Jill,

I'm sorry if you sent an email, I didn't see it.  You're welcome to come to the meeting even if you don't finish the book.  I would suggest reading the book even if you're on the waiting list, since there are always cancellations in the last week before the meeting and you will most likely get bumped up in line.  You do not need to pay dues unless you actually attend, since the money mainly covers the cost of snacks served at the meeting.  Hopefully we will see you next month.

Tiffany

Hi Tiffany!

This is Jill Boggs.  I am new to the group and signed up to go to the group last night.  I am very sorry about not coming...I very much wanted to go and sent a message asking if it was okay that I come to the meeting even though I have only been a member for a few days and haven't read the book.  I didn't hear back so I wasn't sure if it was okay for me to come and I felt uncomfortable assuming it was okay.......Again,  I am very sorry for not showing and really want to be a part of the group,  but I just don't know what is appropriate...I will definitely pay my due from last night and hope to get into the next meeting....do members read the book even though they are on the waiting list?  And would it have been okay to have gone to the meeting last night even though I had not read the book?

Thank you!  (sorry!)

Jill Boggs

Hi everyone,
Last night we had quite a few no-shows to the book club meeting.  This was a big surprise, considering we had a waiting list for people to get into the meeting.
Just a review of our book club rules:
1. If you are inactive for 6 months or more, you are removed from the group.  You will be allowed to rejoin, if you decide you would like to participate in the future.
2. If you no-show 3 times, you are banned from the group.  It is just simple courtesy to update your RSVP, even if it is at the last minute.  I have to plan for the number of attendees and expecting 20 people and having 5 people show up wastes a lot of time and effort for me.  Not to mention, holding a space keeps someone else from attending.
If you don't like a book, we still want you to come to the meeting!  The more people who show up the better the discussion will be.
As always, if you have suggestions for books, you think we should meet at a different location or on a different day, you would like me to bring a different kind of snack, or any other ideas that would make the book club more exciting for you - let me know.

Tiffany :)
