Announcing a new Meetup for Asheville Skeptics!

What: Asheville Skeptics: The eyes have it!

When: Wednesday, September 15,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Scully's
13 W Walnut St
Asheville, NC 28803

Fellow Skeptics, I have been deceived! For years I studied the interpretation of medical tests, assessing the levels of blood glucose, the number and form of red blood cells, the shadows on an x-ray image, all for naught! While I was being schooled in the ways of the money grubbing Western Medical Establishment I could have been learning the one true way to diagnose disease and human pathology, Iridology!

You see, every organ in the human body reflects its health and happiness (or lack thereof) in the patient?s iris. This even works for orthopedics, per this account of iridology?s discovery:
?Ignatz von P?czely, a 19th-century Hungarian physician is usually credited with inventing iridology. He got the idea for this novel diagnostic tool when he saw a dark streak in the eyes of a man he was treating for a broken leg and it reminded him of a similar dark streak in the eyes of an owl whose leg he had broken years earlier. Von P?czely then went on to document similarities in eye markings and illnesses in his patients.?

I shall make it a point to compare the health of all my future patients with that of random wildlife I have abused. (why had he broken an owl?s leg and then looked into its eyes?)
Anyhow, bring your iridology charts down to Scully?s this Wednesday at 7 and we can gaze into each other?s eyes as they become increasingly bloodshot and bleary.
