Hi folks, For those of you who are new to the group, welcome! The fledgling Asheville Skeptical Society has really geared up over the last couple of weeks, and I'm excited to see people in the community are interested in spirited conversation and critical evaluation of various types of woo, pseudoscience, and flim-flam, while simultaneously enjoying a quality malt beverage or three.
The first meetup was two weeks ago at the Wedge Brewery, which was a great venue beer-wise, but it has some logistical problems (a bit noisy that night and short on seating). Someone has suggested the Thirsty Monk, and that might be a good one to try (they serve food; a plus).
I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows another site that would be appropriate.
How does Wednesday, July 2 sound for meetup #2 sound? That night seemed to be the most popular for everyone. Keith
p.s. If you haven't had the opportunity, check out the great list of podcasts Kyle composed and posted to the message boards. Feel free to add some to that thread.
Asheville Skeptics (ASk) is dedicated to promoting the use of scientific skepticism & critical thinking.
Our meetings are for people interested in skeptical inquiry, current events in science, state & church separation, and medicine. We support critical evaluation of alternative health modalities, conspiracy claims, and pseudoscience in general.
