Welcome to Western North Carolina’s Meetup group for folks from the New York region now living here in The South! Whether you are from New York City, New York State or Long Island, come on out and fellowship with friends who understand you. You’re from New Jersey? You belong here. You’re from the surrounding region? If you identify with New York, you belong here. We love half-backs. New York is a melting pot so we are too. We use “pal”, “buddy” and “guy” as terms of endearment.

We tell stories and commiserate with others who have too often heard, “You’re not from ‘round here, are you?” We have our own expression for “Bless your heart.” We help each other adjust and feel less like a stranger. Sharing our businesses with one another and helping each other succeed and grow is what we do.

If you like great conversation where any subject can be discussed and all political views, religious preferences and cultural backgrounds are embraced, you will like coming out to our little melting pot here in the mountains. With the same equality and diversity, we'll also give you a hard time. A sense of humor and an ability to laugh at ourselves is helpful. At the heart of it is a heart for each other and the community we develop.

You can usually find us rather easily. Listen for the voices rising above the din in the restaurant. We laugh out loud. We’re the ones having intelligent conversation after a show. We can be both loving and rude all at the same time. We have plenty of opinions and don't mind sharing them. Going out to eat is our most common Meetup. We have movies on the schedule. We've been to the theater and will plan more of those. Let’s do more fun things. Join us and suggest events that you would like to attend.

We have a cosmopolitan, city, inclusive mindset. Our members are from all walks of life with a depth of experience and world view, bringing a richness to our conversation.
