The Randolph-Macon Music Faculty will celebrate the music of Igor Stravinsky with a recital of works by the composer. This year marks the one hundredth anniversary of Stravinsky's most famous piece—the groundbreaking music for The Rite of Spring—and performances of his music are taking place around the world.
This recital will feature works from various stages of Stravinsky's career, including his Two Songs, Op. 6 (1910), the Suite Italienne for Cello and Piano (1932), as well as Three Pieces for String Quartet (1914) and Tango (1940), both arranged for guitar quartet. The faculty performers will include pianist James Doering, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Eschen, cellist Jason McComb, guitarist Andrew McEvoy, and special guests the Richmond Guitar Quartet.
The concert is free and open to the public.
