  • COURSE 11: A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, Part 2. This course is the second in a three part series based upon A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life by Master Shantideva and the commentary Entry Point for Children of the Victorious Buddhas by Gyaltsab Je. Topics include: an explanation of the perfection of patience, the perfection of joyful effort, and the perfection of meditative concentration; the results of anger; how to make a habit of not getting angry; how joyous effort supports the other five perfections; obstacles to joyous effort; obstacles to meditation; how selfishness produces pain; reasons to treat others as well as yourself; the source of all the world's pain; compassion as a prerequisite for successful meditative concentration; meditation as a prerequisite for wisdom; where you, your world and all of your experiences come from and Buddha nature. ................................................................................................................................................. This course, taught by Bonnie Baptist, will meet Thursdays beginning Jan 31 for 5 weeks (no class Feb 14) 6:30-9:00 pm. Bonnie Baptist, is a student of Geshe Michael Roach & Lama Zopa Rinpoche. She has been studying and practicing dharma since 1996 and has taken teachings from many masters in the Gelug Tradition, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Ribur Rinpoche, Choden Rinpoche, Denma Locho Rinpoche, Kirti Tsenchab Rinpoche, and Lati Rinpoche. Bonnie is a graduate of Diamond Mountain University and has offered service to FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition) in a variety of capacities for 15 years. She has been teaching dharma courses for the past 6 years and recently relocated from Austin, Texas to Phoenix to be closer to Geshe Michael.
