Newport Seafood is located in San Gabriel area. Their famous is the lobster house special. This is one dish that you'll find at nearly every table in the house the Newport Lobster consist of sauce of garlic, scallions, black pepper and more. The lobster meat is sweet and tender, infused with the “special” sauce. Even though Newport is known for its seafood, the Bo Luc Lac better known as “shaking beef" the peppery chunks of seared tenderloin. They appeared on a sliced tomatoes and onions and really popped when squeezed with lime and dipped in the dish of salt. Clam Spicy lived up to the name, with juicy bivalves cooked in a briny broth that the chefs amped up with Serrano and Fresno chilies, seeds, veins and all.
Ly Lee opened the original Newport Seafood in 1984 in Santa Ana, sold it in 1989 and opened in San Gabriel in 1996. He and his family followed up with a Rowland Heights outpost in 1999. The second San Gabriel location, which is where we ate, moved down the street two years ago. It occupied the sprawling former home of a Marie Callender’s, and still looks the part, though some of shelf ornaments would have to be considered upgrades.
We can bring wine or champagne and there is a $15 corkage fee.
Bring Cash: Please bring cash to pay for your share of the meal. This will be family style and everyone will pay an equal share of the bill excepting if you order drinks or dishes you do not share, expect to pay for your separate items in addition. Figure $40-$60 per person.
A Refundable Deposit of $20.00 will be required No shows will not be refunded unless you UN-RSVP or cancel at least 2 days in advance. Otherwise, non-attendance and cancel after 2 days will be considered a “no show” whereby you are bar from my future event. If you have two or more no shows, the organizer may remove your membership.
If you show up the deposit will be refunded; it will not be applied towards your dinner.
Meeting Time: 5:45pm and then we will begin dining at 6:00pm or as soon as we get a table. Arrive on time!!
Parking: There is a free parking at the rear of the restaurant and/or street parking.
