APEX Cares and Operation Christmas Child welcome special guest speaker Alex Nsengimana to our shoebox packing party this Saturday, November 16th. Alex Nsengimana is a survivor of the Rwandan genocide which claimed the lives of most of his extended family. He now lives in the United States and is studying to become a pastor. Alex will talk about receiving an OCC shoebox as an orphan in Rwanda and how it impacted his life.
In response to the devastation in the Philippines, Operation Christmas Child also plans to send over 520,000 shoeboxes to children in the Philippines. The West Coast region is one of the sending locations to the Philippines, so please spread the word.
Please join us at NOON this Saturday, November 16th at the LA Police Academy to hear Alex Nsengimana's amazing story, and to pack your own shoebox.
All volunteers MUST rsvp at [masked].
APEX is sponsoring Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a worldwide project that uses simple gift-filled shoe boxes to let impoverished boys and girls know that they are loved and not forgotten. OCC began in the U.S. in 1993 with 28,000 shoe box gifts. Since then, it has collected and hand-delivered more than 100 million shoe box gifts to needy children in more than 130 countries. OCC will use any creative method possible to deliver shoe box gifts aside from the traditional methods. Gifts have been transported by canoes, elephants, dog sleds, donkeys, horses, and camels. Children from the snowbound Himalayas to the war torn streets of Baghdad will realize the power of a simple gift that brings hope and joy. Come celebrate 20 years with OCC and APEX! Delicious refreshments and drinks will be provided.
