Every 4th Friday evening is Dinner With Dharma at the Greater Boston Buddhist Cultural Center at 950 Massachusetts Avenue, between Central and Harvard Squares, Cambridge.
The low-key talk therapy helps us notice our suffering and become aware of suffering's root causes so we can free ourselves from our obstacles.
6:30 p.m. Meditation (mostly just sitting quietly and calmly, breathing all the time, building up an appetite; it is led by a Buddhist nun or a leader in training)
7:00 p.m. Dinner (vegan - but ALWAYS ask because it reminds them)
7:45 p.m. Dharma Talk and Discussion (could go on for 75 minutes)
Please do NOT come for the dinner if you are NOT staying for the conversation afterwards. The temple considers that rude!
Dharma With Dinner, Friday evening program at the temple. We had so many activities scheduled from November through February, but we are now gearing up to start another season of DWD. We will be restarting on Friday evening, March 22nd with a presentation on a talk entitled "Happiness and Peace" given last autumn by Ven. Master Hsing Yun.
The title of the talk therapy aims to help us first to notice our suffering and then become aware of the root causing this suffering so that we can free ourselves from our obstacles.

Take the T to Central Square, http://www.mbta.com....
Walk in TOWARDS Harvard Square until you see 950 Mass Ave on the left (south) side of the street.
The vegan buffet is outstanding, but don't tell the nuns or the regulars that you're there for the vegan food. They suspect that lots of outsiders are going there MERELY for the $10 vegan buffet, which is really quite good, so be interested in Buddhism - Ch'an Buddhism. Suggestion: come at this in terms of common human experiences... there are Buddhist reasons for NOT being fixated on Buddhism itself.
